Mistgun_Zero:
I wasn't involved but I saw through almost all the beta tat on FF14 a relam reborn and it was to my liking. I can't play know due to uni and all but if I ever get time I will be getting at the first chance I have.

XIII, XIII-2 and Lighting Returns? Sure, they lost me there too. But I personally will have to play XV.

For me FF has been getting less and less good since FF6.
-Yes, I'm one of those old people.

I've enjoyed a few of the main series (mainly FF8/9/X2) and even some of the spin-offs but this last batch (FF14, all of FF13, etc) have just been bad.

I had to laugh at this one, since FF6 lololol. 7 and 8 were pretty good. 9 is also good. 10 and afterwards (that's when Enix merged with Square) shit hit the fan.

I'd rather play a 2D game with 3D characters, like FF6, than a 3D game with 2d characters, like FF7.

You kids be hating, but you know FF6 kicks FF7's ass on everything.

FF6 is freaking great nontheless. I loved the game and replayed it so many freaking times. FF7 pushed the scale much higher and had better character structure which FF6 lacked. There was a better story overall that constructed a thoroughly near-perfect written story. Makes you wonder why FF7 is so popular that many, many .. many fan-made stories, comics, pictures, etc were all created. Square expanded on sequels, prequels and so on for FF7. The end of such expansions will end in 2017 if I'm correct so we should see something soon from Square. On the other hand, what did FF6 generate? A re-re-renew of the same game and like two dungeons? Unless you've dedicated a lot of time into playing and re-playing FF7 to exploring everything you can through each event through the massive world and information to gather, you wouldn't understand much of it nor its characters. At least, this is a common thing for such persons.

This is no hype as people keep claiming. FF7 is the most successful RPG for Square and the quote on the back of its case states the truth, "Quite possibly, the greatest game ever made." I'm sure Square will want to milk the shit out of it as much as possible. Imagine if a remake takes place for the PS4 ... ha. I doubt they'd want to revisit that.

Also, FF7 is 3D models on 2D pictures in-game.

Tanis:
I'd like to counter that with a simple observation:
People are stupid, and sheep.

I'd like to expand that observation with an example:
Madden, Dynasty Warriors, the modern CoD series, etc...
All sell EXTREMELY well, even though they're basically DLC being sold as full 60USD.

I'd like to expand that example with a more anime focused version of said example:
Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, DBZ GT, etc...
All have done/are doing, EXTREMELY WELL.
Yet they all kind of suck at this point.

FF7 was, and will forever be, the Madden of the FF games.
It was a poorly done JRPG that sold because of the rise of anime and little kids going 'OMG DAT POLT n' DEM GRAPHIX!'.

It doesn't matter what the spin-offs did.
The original game is nothing to write home about.

Just another mediocre game whose hype train managed to get to sell.

FF7 is overrated.
