why the hell did they have to do it by killing off just about the only character I like? The others are all boring, uninteresting, and totally generic (with the possible exception of Alice - and she's not exactly the most original character design either). They'd better improve things massively now to make up for it ¬¬

Also, I hope they explain exactly how she actually died. I mean, you don't just fall off a school roof. I can't think of many realistic ways it could have happened that don't involve murder or suicide, so hopefully there'll be something interesting behind it all. It doesn't seem logical that she would have killed herself at that point, all things considered, though I suppose you never know.

It was one of the best episodes so far though, even if the ending was kinds irritating.

I love this show. The arcs are so well written and original, while edging surrealism but keeping everyone's feet on the ground. Nothing is exaggerated, I love how the all powerful fourth gets his ass kicked with the simple explanation that he was outnumbered. Emotions and human reactions to ever little scene are pinpoint and realistic.

if there was only one criticism that came up here that I'd tend to agree with, it would be where some main characters aren't developed enough (the NEET gang's street members, which would be everyone but Alice i guess lol, are well present in every episode but we don't know much about them aside from a little bit of their respective backgrounds...)

That last episode was indeed the best there was, especially the ending.

The build-up to the end was so good... May you have preferred a different outcome or not, or simply pissed at the fact that a character present since the very start suddenly dies without warning, you just can't argue with the fact that it was perfectly executed from episode 1. She wasn't given too much screen time while more than enough for us to connect with her. She semi-disappeared from almost each arcs until that last one where it gave some of us a glimmer of hope for her to be the show's main girl, then BAM!

I know I may irritate fast readers (too fast, seriously. Read carefully or don't read at all ) fans of Tarantino, who has mastered the art of building up a scene more than a decade ago, but I can't help but compare this anime's last episode to Tarantino's specialty. It is a vulgar comparison, don't get me wrong, I am perfectly sane. But I will stand my ground, it was just awesome.

In the preview for the next episode, he quite clearly says "After losing Ayaka...", so she's almost certainly dead. The question is how and why, which I really hope they'll answer next time.

But yeah, while I am pretty pissed off about it, I totally agree it was a brilliant episode, perfectly executed. Hopefully they'll be able to sustain that level of quality for the rest of the show, because up until now it's mostly been pretty mediocre.

I don't mind the execution. (um ... ) It was just ... sudden. I don't recall anything about Ayaka having troubles with her brother, I don't actually KNOW anything about Ayaka except what I know now (cute, worked at the Ramen shop, affiliated with the NEET detectives but not allowed to do any real work iirc, has a crush or an interest in ... main guy (no I don't care to remember his name), a drug-addicted brother and obviously thinks that suicide is the solution to everything - oh fuck that. But as I said. Teens. Drama queens. *headshake*

I'm just not emotionally invested enough in any of these characters. I got a little more interested in the whole Fourth/Ryuji arc, but even there things were so obvious and predictable ... everything and everyone is so very, very bland. If a bland person dies, it is shocking, sure, but not as shocking as the death of someone I'm interested in, be that in a negative or a positive way.

On the other hand, depression is an illness that can be hidden pretty well, teens do commit suicide and the next episode(s) will unravel things. Still ... I don't much care about the characters or the anime. What I care about is that anime has decided to take a turn towards this blandness and I don't like it.

I actually believed she would at the very least try and confirm what she overheard. But, she apparently trusts the guys enough to know that they're always right. Still, she kills herself, just because her brother's a junkie? Seems to me like she had been keeping a lot of stuff inside her then, much more than she was willing to show, even to Narumi, whom I believed she was quite interested in.

You could argue that they could've been more honest with her and just tell her right-out about her brother, but on the other hand, I doubt that would've made the situation any better. If she hid away all the negative stuff for so long, I guess it's only natural that she could find no other way out than killing herself upon hearing the worst news she could possibly hear (even though her brother's not dead, to her he may just as well be).

I don't think this will end in some group tree hug like a lot of shows. Something nasty has to happen, as in more blood.

What if she was growing flowers needed for a drug in her school club? She was probably doing it for a request of her brother. So when she heard he was in drugs, she added 2 and 2 and came to the right conclusion, that she unconsciously became a source for a drug thus being indirectly responsible for ruining/killing many people lives (because she obviously knows how drugs work). So she committed suicide. Ofcourse her brother could've throw her down from the building when she confronted him during package delivery. Either way I am happy with this because she was annoying and I didn't like her. I hope she'll stay dead.

I liked the latest episode. It was really well executed, and at the end, I had the same 'holy shit!' moment. It was unexpected, and I'm happy whenever I'm surprised by fiction. I agree with the others who say it's all about how this is going to unfold. If you do something crazy like this, hopefully there's some major payoff coming. Maybe not, but I really hope so.

Before this episode, I was enjoying the anime, but I wasn't terribly interested in it. I'm really interested in anything about depression and suicide, so that helps.

As far as realism goes, I think it rings true.

It's really hard to pick out which show this summer is great, but this definitely applies to the list of best this year.

They just showed we were all right spot on with all our (or at least most) theories about what happened.

Unlikely, though would be nice if she started making contact with the world. the point to it was to tell us something. I am pretty sure she was forced to take the drug, or that guy told her what she was doing all this time. I'm opting she was forced to take the drug after he told her what she was helping to make. Then she jumped.
