I don't think they will make as much money as they probably could have, But I don't see it as being just completely blow out of the water. i.e. next to zero sales.

It's still a popular brand in the US, and they're not releasing a year out like the PS3 was against the 360. Still $100 more, but we'll see how big a deal that is.

Its still a very popular brand. And the main thing is if it captures the non gaming market they will be riding very high. Compared to the media market the console game market is a niche. 5+years only 140mill sold and that number is expected to go down yet again. Tv's sale on average 250mill a year. As appealing to core gamers I think Sony has the area but not a blow out of the water by any means, its going to be all the not so gamers that will decide the fate of xbox

I also think a bit of a proving ground for both Xbox and PS4 will be there Media center ability's, Because there are more and more people cutting the cable and going with services like hulu and netflix along with devices like appleTV and the Roku.
