I don't think they will make as much money as they probably could have, But I don't see it as being just completely blow out of the water. i.e. next to zero sales.

It's still a popular brand in the US, and they're not releasing a year out like the PS3 was against the 360. Still $100 more, but we'll see how big a deal that is.

Its still a very popular brand. And the main thing is if it captures the non gaming market they will be riding very high. Compared to the media market the console game market is a niche. 5+years only 140mill sold and that number is expected to go down yet again. Tv's sale on average 250mill a year. As appealing to core gamers I think Sony has the area but not a blow out of the water by any means, its going to be all the not so gamers that will decide the fate of xbox

I also think a bit of a proving ground for both Xbox and PS4 will be there Media center ability's, Because there are more and more people cutting the cable and going with services like hulu and netflix along with devices like appleTV and the Roku.

Pretty sure they're keeping it. They'd have mentioned it if they were dropping it, but likely wouldn't if it was the same old thing.

Dont think there is plans to drop it. There business model no matter how much people complained worked and worked well to bring in a bundle of cash. You figure almost everyone in this day and age buys a console and goes online with it. If someone wanted just a netflix device roku comes in hands down for cheap and easy.

lol Roku's remote even has a Netflix button.
however there are tons of people who just play single player games and would love to be able to not have to pay anything additional to use a service they already pay for.

While this is very true. Once people start going down the netflix path the usually like to try other services as well, Which gives you two good options appletv or roku, And at 49-59$ its not a bad deal to get any service you ever wanted. Most likely save the money in electricity cost from running a machine built that is power crazy to a low level streamlined device that used 2watts when in use

dont know about you but i dont give a shit about the difference in power usage. Having to buy another device and making me use another hdmi plug, and pay for another device to use services i pay a monthly fee for is silly.
