Only console I've ever had vertically was my PS2 when the laser started going. Not a huge problem to have them horizontal.

I like standing them vertically for increased ventilation... no idea if the effect is noticeable or anything... just a weird quirk of mine.

I like the option to put it either way. I've got five consoles, a satellite receiver, a stereo system, and a computer attached to this television, so it's getting crowded.
If they had backwards compatibility this wouldn't be an issue.
