the latency should be zero at the end. the box does no post processing on video feeds just overlays its own video so its essential a passthrough device

Quote
In a forum post on NeoGAF, Penello expands on the quote by mentioning it "won't be a great experience," citing HDMI latency affecting interactive content

Guessing he wouldn't warn about using it with a PS4 if it it wouldn't equally affect other interactive devices.

It would be hilarious to daisy chain XBOne's into each other just to see what the latency would end up being on the end unit.
The latency wouldn't be issue because with the overclocking they'll probably combust into a burningman-esk brilliant flame taking everything including your house down with it.

As halfelite mentioned it doesn't do any processing on the data itself, but pushing it through another HDMI device ends up delaying the end product slightly. I doubt it'd overheat the unit, though I'm curious if you can compound overlays. Not sure you could can send the final output of one unit to another and have it apply an overlay on top of that.

I meant that if you got to many close to each other the heat that all of them would give off would be intense enough to start a fire......

And let me guess, you pay on top of your XBL-Gold subscription right?

Following a limited time unlimited access period for Gold members, yes.

I understand the market for this, but they seriously should have considered making it "free" permanently for Live subscribers. I mean.. by-god, but there are a shit tonne of home based fitness programs out there, even for consoles for that matter.

Wii Fit, the marquee title here, had the value of being something you could buy and use occasionally without much sense of guilt like Brain Age or crystal meth. If you're paying a routine subscription however, you might as well pony up the dough for a gym or fitness centre membership.

Its free for a year for xbox live gold members if the content is always updating past that year with new work outs then by all means go and charge for them if no new workouts are added they better not charge. things like insanity/p90 are usually 120$ each for the dvd packages. So I can see where the pricing model comes from as long as new work outs keep coming.

And gym memberships are not cheap average is around 55$ a month with most people saying people only use about 10$ of it the rest is wasted from people not going. So if its monthly is cheap enough it could be a good value, Not to mention a lot of people prefer to work out in the comfort of there home and not at the gym

Really? Here in hungary, the university acknowledge gym is 15€/month, and if you go to others you can get it as cheap as 5€/month with no contracts whatsoever involved. In germany it's usually a 1 year contract with 10-20€/month, but those include trainers and some lessons to get started with. I'd say that's way better than some weird work-outs that get recorded on the side. Personally I get the feeling that microsoft is trying to make the X1 take care of my private life, which i find kind of disturbing.

My Rec centre, with full gym membership, is 39 dollars a month. No personal trainer but you can sit in on classes.

This X-Box One thing is just another avenue to sell fitness DVDs, gadgetry aside.

The Kinect stuff is neat, but that wasn't an issue with the original one either, there's a bunch of neat things you can do with it. It's just a matter of whether that translates into compelling gameplay. Do you really want to fake box in a a boxing video game? Not everyone wants their video game to be an exercise.

They seriously didn't see XBone coming? You really have to wonder what their marketing department is doing with itself.

They were really patting themselves on the back for giving their third console the name "One." Genius.
