Could you imagine a game like Eternal Darkness with the kinect reading your facial expressions?

Like something jumps out, giving you a fright, and a character (probably a ghostly disembodied voice) would say something like, "Relax, it's just a game. The fun is only beginning."

but no one is saying you have to use the kinect for all games. this opens up options for developers to make game work with it or dont work with it. I doubt you will be seeing ghost use the kinect. the possibility are there for lots of usage. I know there are a lot of people that like RPG games what if instead of picking your magic to use you just had to call it out. it has the ability to add depth to a game that has not been seen before besides the kid games on the wii. The ps4 has built in motion in the controls are you ok with flailing your arms about on the ps4 for motion to pick you up but not using your hands without a controller on the xbox?

Yes because talking to your TV when your playing a game doesn't make you seem crazy at all. Motion control and Kinect are fine if they aren't required. I have no problem with people making games etc. that use motion control systems. Xbox though wants to force you to use Kinect to do everything. I mean if we had to use the move controller to do everything in ps4 I would have the same issues. People that want to take advantage of the movement systems are welcome to use them on games or applications that use those. I don't think they should be required for everything because frankly most people don't want it. I mean look at the Wii. People bought a Wii played with it for like a month then it sits on the self for the next year because people got tired of it after the novelty wore off. I mean the new Xbox wont even work without Kinect hooked up. They give you no choice in the matter. That is the issue I have.

I'd also like to point out, just out of personal experience, if you've got siblings or annoying friends about (I have both in spades) and they can change the channel or disrupt your gaming with two words, they will. Oh yes, they will.

No one at MS remembers fighting with others over the remote, apparently.

There might be like voice recognition software like those diaries in the early 2000's? Or maybe that's part of Microsoft's diabolical scheme of perpetual war over what channel to watch during prime-time inevitably making things like Netflix and Hulu a necessity.

Looked at some things that are revealed and it seems that this console is not giving access to the indie market, requires to be connected to internet (to some degree) and forcing the horrible kinect technology down your throat.

Considering that the only console games I would play are fighting games and button mashers, this whole internet business means that console just went from "maybe and occasionally" territory to "definitely not".

I'm not a console gamer anymore, haven't been since the mid '90s when I got my first PC, and everything I see in this thread about the new XBox reinforces the thought that I will never, ever buy another console.

Yup, and I suspect that they will make the UI in such a way that you have to use the Kinect, so covering up the camera isn't an option.

None I just dont see the big deal, I have an xbox 360 since the day I got it it has been connected to my network. Since the day I picked up kinkect its been plugged in sitting on the shelf. For me the xbox one is no different then the way I used my xbox 360. And I assume most people that use the xbox 360 for online games kept it plugged in 24/7. But now that they dont have the option to not plug it in even if they would never unplug it in the first place they get up in arms about it. So kinect has to be plugged in all the time again all smart tv's have built in camera's now and not a single person boycotted them for concerns of privacy. Being the PlayStation will have move built into the controller I suspect that means a new PlayStation EYE which does also have a camera on it so again it will be staring at you the whole time yet for some reason its ok.

We live in a world were we do not really own a single thing, Not sure why people find this so strange now that they do it with technology. Now I dont know if it varies from country to country. But here in the US if you buy a home you dont actually own your home. You cannot do whatever you want to that home everything has to get approval and if it looks bad the city/state/gov can come in and remove you from said home for violations. In the US you buy a car you have the title in your position. It does not mean you own the car if you read what a car title does it gives you permission to operate the vehicle the state gets the MSO title which is the original title.
