Nah, "multi country" doesn't sound that impressive once you realize that most of the world use 230Volt +/-10V at 50Hz, while the other part mostly uses 120V at 60Hz.

In practice that means you place a very small red switch on the back of the PSU with 120/230 option and ship the console with the power cord that fits the country's plug. It's that simple, really.

I don't see why that sort of thing hasn't been standardized yet.

Side not:
Fuck the English units of measurements.

This Yankee uses the metric system.

Infrastructure is expensive to change. Besides Americans cheated instead and hotwired 2 live phases with 120V each, effectively getting the 240V by bypassing the neutral connector entirely. So the only advantage we in Europe have with our single phase 230/240V is that we get three phases in, making it very simple to connect asynchronous AC motor without any fancy converter equipment.

Anyway back to topic. My country is small and everyone knows each other through a "friend of a friend". Anyway that means that the rumours are often credible because they come from someone working at the Norwegian branch of Microsoft. ANyway this it the rumour:

MS did not pull out of 8 countries because of "local content". They pulled out because of the pre-order disaster. You may have heard that PS4 preorder is 4 to 1 compared to Xbone. With the limited supply of consoles during release Microsoft deemed it a better business strategy to fully saturate the "core" markets where they have a chance. Obviously the traditionally Sony loyal Norway is not one of those markets and I bet neither is the rest of the 8 countries.

I dont care about the power brick as its hidden anyways to never be seen or touched.

I am glad Microsoft included a decent looking headset  in the box. I prefer microphones with the boom arms rather then the cheap earbud with the wire hanging on your cheek

Sounds about right.

I saw that Sony is reigning pre-orders if not just stopping them as a whole because they need to have consoles in store.

It seems all the US Amazon's launch day pre-orders are out of stock or stopped as well.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Somewhere in the backroom: "Ok guys, we fucked it up. Any chance we get to milk PC gamers for some cash to mitigate the predicted Xbone losses?"

Microsoft just really has to pull it's shit together because everything else is trying to pull the rug out from under them and there stumbling doesn't help at all.

Seems like something a number cruncher would do.  Can't blame them much no point launching units in a region they might not get sold.  The 4 to 1 pre order seems way off unless they are doing world stats but even then its misleading as a country like japan will be more like 8 to 1. Would be nice to stats by USA and the bigger EU markets that make over 60% of the market.
