Although this opened up the huge dlc market. I can't really imagine people actually buying costumes for characters Oo *hides as I actually have costume DLCs involuntarily*

People will pay for anything that could "enhance" game play in any way.*

People will buy anything if they think its cooler then what someone else had. When I play on CoD and pick up someones gun and notice they bought a skin for it or a new sight that takes up half the screen

Hated using horses in that game, I ran so much faster than them anyways.

Sad thing is Bethesda does pretty good DLC now, but that shit set the tone for the lacklustre content which would follow throughout the market for years. I'm all like, cynical and stuff now.

Word up.

At this point I'm just glad I have a PC that can play Skyrim on high.
Now my horses are immortal, because their retarded ass A.I. just isn't worth putting up with.

I would argue Eastern developers really set the tone. Capcom's on-disc DLC. The insane amount of costumes later repeated by all manner of games (from MMOs to fighting games to RPGs.)

Eastern fighting games with half their line up as DLC. Eastern MMOs were usually more grindy than their Western equivalents anyway, but they really set off the cash shop concept. Then they brought the model to JRPGs. Nothing like buying end game in DLC form.

Horse Armor in turn looks awfully quaint. It was overpriced, but at least it wasn't already there to begin with, and completely skippable. I'd rather all superfluous DLC be so benign.

Capcom's on-disc DLC.

Yeah, that was a really stupid move.

I remember constantly beating Shadowmere unconcious before shoving my loot into its body.

I abused that horse terribly too.

Of course, in Skyrim I spent 3 hours taking a dagger to helpless victims strung up to racks in a secret underground torture chamber, healing them the second they got close to death.

This is what you brought me to Bethesda.

Oblivion was so much worse for min-maxing though. Glad they got rid of their usage based level bonuses. Nothing like trying to maximize all those +5 bonuses every time.

I won't pay any dlc for a costume, but I'd pay to undress them ;D

Rumor has it that MS might possibly bundle FIFA 14 of all things.
