Well, this isn't news. Kinect being part of Xbone has been the selling point from the very start. The real victory is the added function where you can disable Kinect. Disable and throw Kinect somewhere behind TV, problem solved.
For one thing, Tiff is not on any level what I would call a typical American.  She's not what I would consider a typical person.  I don't know any other genius geneticist anime-fan martial artist marksman model-level beauties, do you?

Until they release a OFW update that FORCES you to use Kinect.

I trust MS about as much as I trust the NSA.

I wish I could install Win7, but my laptop came with Win8...and wouldn't ALLOW me to install Win7 for some reason.

No, but I don't think it would be exactly surprising if they announced a "stream-lined" X-Box One without the Kinect at a hundred or a hundred and fifty dollars less. It seemed the next logical step after they leaked that it wasn't mandatory after all.

I actually kind of respect that they aren't budging on something at least. Although given their feverish backpedalling these last months I suspect it's more a matter of their financial commitments with all those game publishers expecting a wide install base and advertisers expecting to read your personal data avariciously than any backbone on their part.

It's not like people who would've bought my theoretical stream-lined version would buy a Kinect later of their own volition, at least not the one for consoles.

I heard somewhere here it's due to a restriction imposed by hardware or something.
Thank goodness I probably won't use it while at work.

Windows 8 is better in everything. If you're going to argue about the Start button, then just get Classic Shells or Start7 or 8 (forgot which number). I've already installed Classic Shells on our laptop and it has lots of nice features. Really cool program and it makes you feel like your in Windows 7.

But the real reason is because W8 is better at everything, including performance.

Eh, I don't really see a reason to replace a 1TB with anything less at this point.

Am I REALLY gonna get anything noticeable, in a laptop?

Maybe, but I just can't justify the cost when I'm already saving up for another 2.5/3TB external for storing things.

The like 5 second full boot time. Plus you could just put it with a 4TB and profit immensely.

Where do you people get the money to drop that much cash on HDDs?

Jesus, I'm not sure if I'm poor or cheap, but looking around newegg made me cringe.

Where I live an SSD would cost as much as food for two weeks... or two nights in a pub. In my case a salary for a day after tax.

High salaries, very high cost of living, yet electronics cost the same as rest of Europe. So to me electronics have always been cheap relatively to all other stuff.

I do, but I've also got bills to pay and I like having a saving account.

I COULD buy one right now, but I'd rather have the money in the bank.

It's nice knowing I've got enough money in saving to cover rent, utilities, food, and gas for a month.

I'm trying to save up till I have 3 months covered.

That is really great but you don't have to go with out either.... You have to have blow money also and buying something new every once in a while helps relieve stress.
