Original/Fan Lit
« on: June 18, 2011, 06:23:00 PM »
As there is a general art thread, it would be interesting to have a thread to discuss the writing/sharing of prose works, whether fan literature, light novels, or other original works. Do you have something you are working on? Questions or thoughts about the writing process?

i just am wondering as i recently started doing some of my own writing after scratching out a novel (NaNoWriMo vets? anyone?) and figured there may be others doing their own work.

Ah, I have several unfinished works. From dozens of poems, to incomplete memoirs and dropped novels. I'd be glad to post them for people to enjoy instead of rotting under my bed. (Though be warned, I write my mind.) Will get around to posting them eventually. Could I see some of your work, E? Oh, and I believe Antheon is writing a series.

I have some epic poems, humorous poems, and a bunch of post-apocalyptic short stories.
The problem is, I have no idea where they are ;D

my more current stuff is on my site: http://oddlypopulated.blogspot.com/
the novel is a little, uh, long. and needs MASSIVE fixes.

i am actually surprised that there is that much interest in poetry. i would never have thought to try something like an epic poem...curious.

TiYler, if you post stuff i will try to give some feedback.

I have none at the moment, but i like poems. when bored i can create masterpieces that can only be described as "lolwat".
complete with bad grammar and gratuitous use of difficult sounding words.

EDIT: so who wants a fanfic contest for bonus points in the tracker?

"...The two had been travelling together for a few months now, Ezra teaching her things as they went from town to town, city to city, country to country..."

I was really sad you didn't tell the story of that...unless... the posts on the blog were only PREVIEWS??? I wanna read the whoooole thing!
But then once I read the rest of part two, it seems that it was purposely left out. The story continues without any prior knowledge needed. It kinda feels blank, If there is a whole bunch that you left out, could I read it? If not, then, well I think you should add that beginning of the adventure part... for me ;D

I've written a 30 something one-shot manga once. Complete with bad looking sketches and stuff. I think I'm gonna rewrite it and look for someone to do the artwork.

I've written two poems of my own free will (and a few for schoolwork)

one was ok, the other, I feel was better, but I lost it :-/

+ it'd be awkward as fuck to try and get it back from the one person who has a copy. They mightn't even still have it :(
There must a be a reason for tanking things. And all must be in certain balance.
But what that balance is, must depend only on you, nobody else.

Too lazy to go look for it, might be in one of the boxes somewhere. Besides, I think I lost it when I moved here.

Google Docs? Idk, DropBox?

Google Docs being the better choice IMO.

My best friend Lina, is trying to publish one of her works ... She has a few story plots.

As for myself, I did start a Disc World fanfic but only did a few paragraphs.  Though most of my write is from Forum / Chat room RP-ing ...

stuff like that seems to be really helpful. i never wrote much until i let a few ideas spin out of control for a bit. the end product was somewhat interesting.
