Did anybody else get into the alpha test? (I had three BF titles connected to my EA account.) Since they said there was a limited amount of spots I skipped the EULA and don't know if it has a NDA, so won't say anything.

Are you even allowed to disclose the fact that you got in to the alpha (just wondering (that could be in the EULA which you didn't read))?

No clue. ^^ Was just happy and was curious if anybody else from here wanted to play.

Edit, skimmed through the NDA. The only things I am allowed to disclose is that there is an Alpha and that I am part of it. That is it. :/

I really don't think that they'd hunt you down for disclosing it though, that would just be plain stupid.

You... lucky... person. Damn it.

For anyone who hasn't seen:

10 minute multiplayer footage

They brought the stands for LMGs when you go prone. Hopefully they will allow that when you are crouched next to a wall and you can still do that. If it's only prone, I won't mind. But guess who will be playing the support role all the time (this guy!).

This game is actually looking so good that I might cancel my preorder for MW3 and use that money for Dead Island.

Yes, you can say you were in the alpha

Not allowed to show screenshots / videos without permission though.

All I'll say is this.  This game is going to be oh so very fun.!

What about being forced to use Origin? Heard that was pretty crappy during the alpha.

I knew nothing of the outside world. I was just a frog in a well.

I "heard" the matchmaking was bad, but that it was like any other server browser besides that.

I don't get Steam... why are they being bitches about DLC because "it's the rules." Yeah, you make up the rules then it forces that company to hurt it's own users (Steam's and EA's customers both) and it's a lose lose situation because now EA has to make sure (or won't at all) that their client will run just as well as Steam.

Before origin they had several iterations of download clients for their content. EA link and so on (I've bought several titles on it). The only real difference is that the new one takes it a step further with user integration instead of just being a shell needed to run the game. For the end user it doesn't really mean anything (unless they want to use the extra features) if they were part of the crowd that used the legal download solution of previous EA games.

As I said, there really isn't that large difference between this and a server browser in how one would use it. All-Seeing Eye was such a tool for many older games before such things got usefully integrated. Difference being you have to have it running to get it to work at all instead of just getting it to work good. See it as another version of steam if you want to. What annoyed me the most was having to install a browser plugin to use the server browser site.

I'm gonna be getting BF3 on the PS3 anyways. I know the majority of people will be getting it for PC... but I want a healthy community because (in secret)... I want BF3 to beat MW3. :P

Now if they scale down the console versions, I will not be surprised that we don't have jets... >.>

By the look of the new Caspian Border video, that playable map IS HUGE. I would say it's a good square 16 miles. Then again, those jets are not really flying as fast as they should, but DAMN did it look fun. My used vehicle (which I will wait for at a base) will definitely be the helicopter though. I'm just hoping the console versions get the same vehicles/map sizes/etc. as the PC version. I understand that it's only 24 players, just the same everything else would be lovely. Cause honestly, 64 players means that 40-48 of those players will not have vehicles while in the console version... there will be 2 people in jets, 1 in helicopter, 2 in tanks... and the rest are either in the secondary spots OR on foot. It'll strike a nice balance unless the PC version with 32-64 players will have more vehicles than just the 5 on each side.

Did anyone see this video? Best shot ever taken.

EDIT: PS3 Co-Op video

Yes, it has those really nice water reflections, shadows, muzzle flashes, and thermal scopes all on PS3. There is Co-Op, great vehicular multiplayer, a single player campaign... if this game ends up having a survival mode... I don't really see a need to buy MW3.

Will they be going for buying maps and other unlocks? Considering they seem to include a separate map in the limited edition? If they choose this route I think I'll skip the game, as I have with all others that have gone that route (I am fine with cosmetic unlocks or paying to get all weapons unlocked without playing anything).

Hopefully they will bring the medic back?

As assault gets defibs, there won't be a medic other than that.

Oh and apparently this game has a browser based (as in, NOT IN THE GAME CLIENT) server browser for the PC >_>

This is just stupid.  ::)

Haven't read previous posts, don't know if this was mentioned already.

I mean, remove assault defibs and bring back the medic.  This is stupid.
