I've been having a weird problem.
« on: June 21, 2011, 10:09:01 PM »
I'll try to describe it.
I spend whole days feeling like I want to do something, something in particular. But not knowing what that particular something is.
So it's incredibly frustrating when I pop an episode of an Anime/Live Action series or start playing a game and have to stop minutes later because I realize that it wasn't what I was looking for.
I've noticed that it doesn't happen on weekends. Is that fucking weird, or what? e_e

Also, in regards to anime, I've been having these WEIRD super-specific cravings. Sometimes I'll be like "I want to see an anime in which there's a scene where the main character... Dons his armour and kicks some ass". Not a real craving but an example of how weird they get. It can range from "I wanna watch a shounen" to "I wanna watch an anime in which a Tsundere mafia chick turns out to be a robot, and then a huge plot twist happens".

I believe I have an explanation, though. Calculus, Mechanics and Electromagnetism exams coming up in two weeks. Engineering ain't easy. Maybe it's my brain's way of saying "you know what? you should be studying, you asshole!"

Wanted to let it out. D: It's incredibly frustrating. I have so much anime to watch, I'm worried that if this keeps happening all the way through summer I won't be able to enjoy the 20+ series I have on hold!

Go outside and have some fun that takes a toll on you physically. After that you will feel well sitting and watching anime.
For one thing, Tiff is not on any level what I would call a typical American.  She's not what I would consider a typical person.  I don't know any other genius geneticist anime-fan martial artist marksman model-level beauties, do you?

Why people feel like they have to watch x number of series in an x time period is fucking beyond me.
Unless there's a time bomb next to your HDD set to blow in the next 30 seconds, I don't see why should force yourself on watching anime.

I'm not telling you to study or anything. But when you don't feel like watching anime, take a friggin brake and do something else.

Something like that happens to me every once in a while.  Usually it’s when I’m feeling bored and unfulfilled.  Normal time wasters like games and anime and reading books don’t provide any satisfaction.  Times like that, I usually have to do something creative, like play guitar for a few hours or write.
It took an hour to write; I figured it'd take an hour to read.

It sounds like you don't have a job. If you are bored sitting at home why don't you get a job and work 5+ hours a day. When you get home from work all you want to do is watch anime and relax. I use to have the same problem when school was out and I had no job I would sit at my desk and just do nothing for hours until something comes up. I was bored out of my mind. So I went out and start looking for things to do.

Getting a job to kill time is one of the best things you can do. Yeah work sucks but you get paid to do it.

Get a fucking life. For your non-denominational gods sake!

If your life is boring then you can only blame yourself for being lazy.

Get a job, go to school, write a book, take up a new hobby, get a girlfriend! So many things you can do, have you done them all?

You must have put subconscious blocks on yourself due to rules or restrictions in your house, tell your parents to go fuck themselves then go down the list of the (reasonable) stuff you wanted to do.

It means that you are worn out due to the lack of inspirational anime, this nagging feeling can only be solved by watching the first episode of any anime you come across until your subconsciousness accepts the anime and sticks to it.

Also helps to Organize your damn MyAnimeList, and the collected anime in your notepad, also download MyAnimeList Updater.

Then stop playing all games and stick to manga and anime only.
Unable to read manga? then read the guilty pleasure ones, it's the only reason i bother to read anyway.

People in this forum are weird. So many assumptions made about me, but I can't be bothered to correct them all. Still, you guys managed to get a lot of shit wrong.

Either way, I work every summer (and have for 3 years now). I'm not working atm because my summer break hasn't started yet. I can't deal with exams + part-time job atm, it's been a tough year. My problem is not exactly boredom, and I don't want to "watch all the anime I have here in X amount of time". This feeling I've been having is not exclusive to anime. It's not that I don't have anything to do, I just have weird cravings for what I do want to do, usually unfulfillable ones.
I'm just worried that I'll spend the summer like that, is all. I live very far away from my college mates and most people I hang with in general, working and nerding is the only thing left to me (besides going to the beach when I feel like doing 4/5 hours by train to meet the guys).

So, it sounds like you are doing alot of things, but there is always something else you can do.

Find an end goal then tread the steps towards it. I understand the word boredom, but I cant think for a second that you have done everything in your life that you would like to do.

Just do a little studying every day and then go on with entertaining yourself.
Same happened to me when I had to study for my masters degree exam. I had loads of stuff to do in the last week (as I did not do a thing in time as usually) so I said to myself - you will be allowed to listen to music and read your books only after the exam. It was a week of torture. Hate being without music :D But it helped. I don't really see any reason to study hard more then one or two days before a regular exam, but it still felt a bit weird all that exam month.

go drink the following all at once:

beer
coffee
cola
energy drink

then go jogging.

no seriously, beer would help your blood flow, coffee would keep you awake, cola could supply you with some sugar, energy drink should get you on your feet. now start jogging. this helps relieve stress and boredom, the jogging part i mean.
