In case you haven't read the manga but want a small overview, read the spoiler.

If you don't want to know anything then don't read it.

You have been warned, don't complain later.

Ah well, have to wait and see I guess. It should hopefully still be an enjoyable watch, but my excitement has been dampened slightly.

lol, did they just make Saki look as villainous as her sister in the first series? :o

I knew nothing of the outside world. I was just a frog in a well.

My thought on that are that the Achiga girls are imagining Saki like that. After all, the player who managed to beat Koromo should be really scary, seeing how scary Koromo is. IIRC in the first season some opponents reacted to Saki about the same (I guess mahjong skill can be felt like the power level in DB).

holy wacamole! Saki looked so badass. . .I was hoping she would trip in front of everyone (like she did when she met Ryuumonbuchi)

TBH I really got thrown off by the timeline, I didnt expect them to be already so close to the nationals, and they just breezed in 10 minutes what Saki did in 25 episodes =,=

anyways my complaints:

- No lesbians
- I cant pin-point the main character (I would assume is Shizuno) but TBH none of the girls really have any. . .demon powers, I mean they all lost to Koromo. . . seriously they expect to even compete with Nodoka?
- Saki's Skirt:
(click to show/hide)

now, since we're on episode 3 and they'er already at the nationals, Im assuming we're going to see all the way to the nationals, my question is
will they still focus on this crappy team? or will they shift the focus back to Saki and Kiyosumi?

TBH I'd rather see Saki's schools. . .cause if these girls are going to be the focus of the nationals then we gotta expect them to win (given that they are the main characters, they cant be eliminated right away) and TBH I'm really looking forward to Saki vs Saki's sister match

Honestly, this disappoints me more with every episode. I was really worried that a second season would focus more on the lolis (since, let's face it, that's why Saki was popular ¬_¬) instead of the mahjong, and it's increasingly looking like that's what's happening. I've only ever been interested in the awesome mahjong games (and frankly, the non-mahjong parts of Saki were pretty terrible), so I'm not particularly impressed.

I suppose there's still a chance they'll get into the nitty-gritty mahjong matches now they've reached the nationals, but at best I think it's lost a lot of impact now we're suddenly there watching a totally different group of girls who we've never even seen play a match before, as opposed to Kiyosumi, who we've spent 25 episodes getting attached to. At worst, they won't go into any detail at all, and it'll just be boring.

And I have no idea what they're thinking by organising the story like this, either. Aside from my last point, in going through the nationals with this other team, they're going to have to reveal what would be most of the major plot twists in a proper second season of Saki (which teams win each rounds, who Kiyosumi beats, and most importantly, who wins the nationals - unless they stop halfway through, which would be an equally stupid decision). Since the Saki manga is still ongoing, and still progressing through the nationals, we can safely assume that there will be a proper second season if this does well, so the way they're organising this seems like a very strange way of doing things.

Yeah, that turned into a bit of a rant there, but Saki is one of my favourite anime of all time, almost solely because of the mahjong, so to see the sequel pretty much entirely leave that out is more than a little frustrating >:(

I don't know where the manga is up to so can't comment much but based on Bob2004's comment I'm pretty sure we're going to see less technical stuff going on and more on character relations.
But damn, Saki is back so everyone else can go to hell. As you all have noticed, no awesome short skirts, which sucks.

Bump.  ;D
So all we got to see was Ms. Dora going crazy but that's normal already, Nodoka's fine tits and a bit of Saki.
Well it's not too bad I guess.

Mmmm. . .its interesting enough, although this season has a completely different feel to it. . .
I cant really pin-point a main character.
I mean ASSUMING this is cliche'd and they make it to the finals (against Saki most likely) then what will happen to Saki's dream of playing with her sister?

Im hoping they will loose against Saki's sister.

TBH Kuro is the only one that seems to have supernatural powers. . .the others are just regular humans :P
altho I liked Kuro's way of playing, doing those random discards.

and that commentator was epic. . .Im assuming she's a pro, and shes assisting (like fujita did in the past season)

would be epic to have her and fujita at the same time ;)

Starting here the mahjong matches will probably be more detailed. The previous ones were not as detailed because we knew that they are going to make it to the nationals and will play against the girls they met on the way and Saki's sister, but now it can go either way. Either Achiga girls win and go to play against Saki or they lose and Saki gets to play against her sister.

They will probably win and go to play against Saki and Saki will play against her sister in the individual tournament (Achiga girls are not participating, but Saki is, her sister most likely too), that way both dreams will be achieved.

The small parts with Saki etc are not in the manga btw. Seems like they needed a little bit extra to stay with one chapter per ep.
Which still leads to the question of where do they want to get story after ep11 (since there aren't enough chapters out...)

Hmm? Anime about mahjong? And people here say it's action packed? For some reason after my experience with Mudazumo Naki Kaikaku I seriously doubt this one will have more action  ;)
For one thing, Tiff is not on any level what I would call a typical American.  She's not what I would consider a typical person.  I don't know any other genius geneticist anime-fan martial artist marksman model-level beauties, do you?

Akagi has some action, even though it is about mahjong.

Highlight of episode:

Teru smiling and press conference

other then that. . .I did not like how they breezed over the 4th match. . .I wanted to see Arata's play-style

Still I'm very disappointed in the fact that no one so far has "powers"
last season was filled with superpowers:

- Demon Koromo and Saki
- Stealth girl
- Super blue-vision girl
- Super no-vision-but-good-memory girl
- That girl that played with the east wind on the individuals

and this season we have:

- Average team no. 1
- Average team no. 2
- Average team no. 3
- Average team no. 4

WTF man!

There are girls with super powers, one who gets lots of doras, another that gets lots of tiles with red paint, girl who can see the future. Teru probably also has superpowers.

Teru does have superpowers, shes supposed to be better than Saki. . .

and Ok, they have their play style of getting red paint and stuff. . .but they didnt animate it correctly, TBH their matches dont get me all pumped up like Saki S1, where there was like thunder and fire and ice and water and everything. . .I guess theres not enough match action. they just tell you "oh she gets a lot of tiles with red paint" and thats about it. . .

I've given up on hoping for more technicalities to be animated like the previous one.
All we're going to see is the very few highlights of the match.
