Looks like we'll be seeing Achiga clinging on to second place in the semis and we'll get to see all the important teams in the finals.
Saki VS Teru VS Shizuno and whoever....

I found this episode a bit too fast-paced for my likings, especially Arata's match. We know now that she likes to throw her pieces like they are bowling balls, but whether or not she has a hidden skill wasn't revealed. Shizunu seems to have a similar play style to Kiyosumi's Hisa, who also played best when the situation looked at its worst.

Nice to hear Teru finally speak, as well Stealth Momo making her appearance.

damn I cant wait to see her "power"

TBH the best "normal" player so far is Yumi, she is very composed and was able to handle 2 demons in the finals. . .

Highlight of Episode 8:

Damn, Teru raping new buttholes on those 3 girls. . .

I did not like her power tho, it was pretty bleh, when she just like held the table I thought she was going to like trow it on the floor or something, like some rampaging mahjong player. . .
then she had this like bracelet of wind. . .which was pretty bleh. . .I like saki who can go outer space and then reach her arm from there all the way to the mahjong table and BOOOM THUNDER!

So the first of the final three episodes of Achiga-hen has aired, and I have to say, I really enjoyed it. Just pure, wonderful mahjong with all kinds of over-the-top special effects, and silly superpowers - exactly what Saki does best, and it did it brilliantly (although it flitted between all these new players we'd never seen before a bit quick. I'd have liked a bit more detail). IMO, the best episode of Achiga-hen thus far (though parts of season 1 were better).

After watching the episode, I think I found my incentive to get back to Janryumon.

The pacing was a bit too fast, but I hope this allows for more time to see what will become of Toki in more detail.

I noticed the episode time was longer than normal, how come?

I'm looking forward on the match with Kasumi and Toyone. I hope that the Zenkoku-hen would have a more pumping-up battle sequence than the Achiga-hen.

and WHY O WHY! wasnt Teru the last player! I wanted her school to enter the last round in 3rd place and have Teru obliterate the opposition like Koromo

I really wanted Teru to show more. . .but they picture it as if their 5th player is stronger than Teru. . .

Saki Season 2, National Tournament Arc announced: Saki Season 2 To Air Spring Of 2014

The drawback is we have to wait a year... $:-\$ I'm fine with that I guess, Saki is an underrated show because it's a moeblob show. If you can overlook that, it's actually not half-bad. I'd really like an Akagi season 2 though.

Episode 16 is out. Can't confirm but I think with the events that transpired this is the end of Achiga-hen.
Now to wait for Zenkoku-hen.

Overall I'd say they got way too liberal with mahjong super powers compared to the original season.

Yeah agreed, it all got a bit too ridiculous. It felt more like some kind of shounen battle anime than a show about mahjong. The first season was just the right level of pleasingly silly, but this one went too far and just ended up being a bit stupid. Still entertaining enough, but I hope they go back to focusing more on the mahjong in season three.
