I'm surprised nobody's mentioned the font rendering and its suckage.
Still haven't found its weaknesses. But in FF4 it lagged when I opened more than about 100 tabs. It would lag too much. ATM, I'm using FF3 and still waiting for them to solve those issues. Once they are solved I'm going to jump FF4 and go directly to FF5

I decided I'd upgrade to 5 because I like some of the new things. Overall, I'd say it's pretty nice.

I had to turn off hardware acceleration to get the font to not hurt my eyes, even if I could tune it with an add-on to make it look considerably less bad, the spacing was still weird and it still burned a little bit for some reason.

My favorite theme isn't available for FF5, of course... So, I had to just make something close to it with a combination of Personas+Colorful Tabs. I made the background the same then set the colorful tabs to a single color, with a bit of fading. I wish I could set the color of the active tab, that'd get me a lot closer to my old theme. But, it's alright I guess.

I really like the tab grouping and app tabs.

I, too, made it look like FF3 (I also disabled WebGL just to be safe). I never could stand the way Chrome looked. It pissed me off that Firefox copied them.

A day or so ago a dialogue box popped up and said something like this:
Quote
It is HIGHLY recommended you upgrade to Firefox 6.0 now (...)

So I went ahead and accepted and restarted the browser. Again, the only difference is that some addons are not compatible. I wonder what Mozilla is thinking...

yeah, it is beta, I know. FF5 was beta when I DLd it, 6 was Aurora, and 7 was Nightly. I guess beta moved to 6, and they decided since I liked DLing the betas and such, that I should upgrade once FF6 moved from Aurora to Beta. (previously Aurora and Nightly were counted as seperate and wouldn't upgrade the normal Firefox like Beta does.)

From what I can tell, WebGL still looks dangerous. I'll never use it, so... leaving it disabled to stay on the safe side.

Oh by the way, if you're interested... this is the persona I made to look like iFox Smooth... https://www.getpersonas.com/en-US/persona/419613

I'm using it with colorful tabs, and all the tabs set to a light-ish grey color, and fading level 3.

It's alright, I guess. Looks close enough to my old theme that I loved.

FF5,6,7 aren't any different as far as I can tell (except most addons don't work with 6 or 7). I run FF5. Just recently they added compatibility for more of the Addons.

7 is just Less RAM eating, and loads faster than 5.

Pale Moon is essentially the exact same thing as Firefox, minus the Legacy support.
