Anime/Manga Collection Organizer

wildyack:
I was wondering what programs/websites people use to manage their collection. Everything I have tried doesn't meet my needs in the way I want it to. I would really like something that can manage what I own, what I've seen, what I want to see, and what I've rated. As a software engineer I've decided that if I can't find something that meets my needs elegantly, I will be forced to create it myself. :)

I'm assuming you've looked at MyAnimeList.net and AniDB.net already, right? Both of those are pretty good, though I personally prefer MAL for managing my list, since editing things on AniDB isn't exactly the friendliest of experiences. They both do everything you listed though; AniDB is better for managing what you have (and where you have it) and what you don't have, whereas MAL is better for listing what you've seen, want to see, etc.

http://wiki.anidb.net/w/AniDB_Clients is AniDB's clients for keeping track of anime automatically. For manga there is no such thing.

MAL supports manga, and while I don't know of any clients, it does have an API, so if worst comes to worst, you could always write one yourself. I find doing it all manually online is easy enough for MAL that you don't really need a client though.

Sosseres:
I tend to split it up, anime anidb, manga manga-updates. Anidb since I like the database look, I even use a normal book site that is similar in style with members adding a lot of the information.
