I am also not following a single series this season, that helps a lot against episode updates (when I was following I just checked my torrent client).

Yes because i forget what episode number i watched quite easily, and if i mark it wrongly i can very easily skip over an episode, almost did that once which lead to countless double takes...

This is an easy problem to solve, because well i solved it.  You just create a column that lets you know what episode you are on, if you stop watching a series.  If you finnish the series that column reads Complete.

As far as series you are editing or interested in, that's an easy fix too.  You color coordinate, Green (Watching), Yellow (Researching), Blue (Stalled), Red (Dropped), and Orange (Newly Listed)

And if you are really silly like me you have a hidden date link on a hidden cell that automatically logs the date which it is entered into the data base.  This can be set up as a conditional formatting that then can automatically change the color of the cell.  For example you can set the condition to stay Orange for 30 days then it changes to white and falls into your database, unless you change it's status.  Then you can use a two tier conditional, and all you have to do is change the Status Cell and the Color of the Cell is automatically changed when you change the status ex ~ Stalled, Dropped, Watching.  That will leave everything else in White which becomes your database.

Let's face it, if you haven't updated the status of listing in 30 days you probably will not be watching/reading it.

As far as duplicates are concerned, like i said Alphabetize it.  Then a simple Ctrl+F is all you need to search it.  Too easy :)

Yeah, older Excel was a pain in the butt.  But the 2 newest versions are quite powerful.  I'm loving 2010, especially with the new networking capabilities, Office linking options, simplified commands, and new conditional formats/styles.

Windows Search.

AnimeJanai:
Windows Search misses a lot of stuff for me.  If you use a program that updates, moves, renames, deletes, or adds files without using some mysterious unknown (to me) windows code, then Search will miss it.  If some of your files are on USB drive, and that drive is not on sometimes, that can also cause Windows Search to lose track of those files.
