Anime/Manga Collection Organizer

KuraiAkumu:
I use MAL but its not very good at tracking anime have seen a lot of stuff that isn't even on MAL(MAL goes down a lot and crap goes poof from your lists too and you gotta re add them). I'm working on my own personal database system that will keep track of all the Anime i have and where its located .. eventually as i plan to move from DVD/BD to purely HDD sotrage it will keep a catalog of which HDD whatever series is on and i can just swap it out whenever i want to watch it ... I'd like to have info about the series too so i could search the database for a certain CV if i feel like watching something with them or to look them up for reference for a character in a new series or game.

I guess similar to what animeDB and MAL do but more reliable and expanded to suit my needs more plus i wont need to access the web.... teaching myself PHP has been a very difficult and an overall slow process.

I really wish people would stop saying stuff like ANN MAL and AniDB MAL... it just creates unnecessary confusion. >_>...

I use MAL (MyAnimeList). I don't use MAL-Updater, but that's always an option.

And uh... I've been using MAL for over a year and I've never lost my list or anything I put on it and MAL has only gone down once or twice, and it was back up shortly thereafter.

Couldn't be easier. Finish an episode and hit "+" to make the ?/n go up. Well, it could be easier, if using MAL Updater, but... sometimes it doesn't detect some due to weird naming conventions, etc. So, I find it easier to just do it manually.

Bit of self promotion....

I use (and work on) JMM (It is similar to MALUpdater)
http://code.google.com/p/jmm/

It connects to AniDB, MAL, TheTvDB, MovieDB and Trakt

My brain.

I do have a MAL account, but it'd require me to enter EVERYTHING I've ever seen manually and I honestly can't remember all of that on-the-fly. I can recollect infos when I see the stuff though.

Giving it a try, though I definitely ran into the reasonable limits of SQLite, gonna try and setup SQL Server and hopefully that'll mitigate the speed issues.

Any plans to add manga?

I think of it more as sorting the stuff you currently have over keeping track of everything you've ever seen. But I just use a spreadsheet for that. Adding mass entries into MAL IS a pain in the ass (especially manga, having to flip the search box to manga EVERY time I use it definitely got annoying after awhile.)
