Your favourite ANIME game
« on: July 01, 2011, 05:01:49 AM »
Just ... doing what ever I do, then I stumble across Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale on Steam, and it got me thinking.

I need some anime games (not H-games, nor Eroge, please no Galge.)

So I would like to know your favourite game!
Would also like to know what you could reccomend.

Please note this topic is specifically towards games in anime style. (google Recettear if confused) Can be drawn w. turn based, audio visual, or 3d.

Popular ones that have been incorporated into Western society I am not interested in, please.  e.g.: Final Fantasy etc.

Well, other than that I don't usually play much anime-related games.

FF7, FF6, FFT: War of the Lions, Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, FFXIII, ... honestly I don't have a "single" favorite game.

o_O What are you, some kind of hipster?

If Ragnarok Online counts as an unpopular anime game, that's my favorite.

EDIT: +1 to the Ace Attorney series (Phoenix Wright, etc.)

+1

As well, as:
Crucis Fatal Fake
Melty Blood
Touhou games
Pheonix Wright games
Profressor Layton games
Last Remenant
Fire Emblem

Tactics Orge games are supposed to be really good too.  Like Tatsujin, I don't have a favourite.

I like this to, but it is WAAAAYYYYY to incorporated with western society, which the OP did not want.

Would you accept VNs? Steins;Gate is a great VN.

Played alot of different games and I dont have a favorite, but recently I play more fighting games then other stuff.

Blazblue
Guilty gear
Arcana heart (if you like lolis and fighting games you will love this)

People call those anime fighters, fun games and almost completely opposite of street fighter

DMC fits this, unfortunately.

Touhou would be mine. and... VN's like say, Saya no Uta and Sono Hanabira (haven't played this yet, but i liked the OVA).

It's truly a crime that DISGAEA has not been mentioned yet.  1 and 2 were both amazing (3, not so much).

Plus, 4 coming out in September looks AMAZING.  Will have politics as a focus, with a stronger dark assembly type system.

DISGAEA for sure.

Persona.

Blazblu

DMC

ICO & Shadow of the Colossus (if you don't think they're anime games, think of the story and setting(s) of either game and compare them to other anime inspired games)

Tales of (of course)

Star Ocean

Almost all the FF's

Chrono Trigger

Valkyria Chronicles

Advance Wars (All of them)

Pokemon (Red, Blue, Gold, Silver, Soul Silver, Heart Gold, Diamond, Black & White) (Side note: I will buy a 3DS specifically to get a new 3D Pokemon game).

Lastly, even though it had no real "anime" characters in it... it took very heavy influence of the anime "mecha" genre and meshed it perfectly with western mechs to create one of the most fun team based mech games alive (what I mean by meshed is that the half the guns look like they came from animes while the other half came from western mech games. I mean COME ON, did anyone think the "Spiker" was a western mech idea?).

Valkyria chronicles is an amazing game but the gameplay could be frustrating as hell.

Tales of Vesperia is probably my favorite current gen jrpg, funny as hell and the best dub I've heard
