Guess I won't see that. Don't want a google account. Lol, found another version without age limit.

Hmm looks like a nice environment. Hope the girl is the main character, probably the only thing that could make me play it.

From what I've read, there's either four main character choices or you switch between four characters throughout the game. The game trailer that isn't 18+ showed a girl, but the player was really bad so you didn't really get much.

The game looks amazing if anything, and it'd be a huge breath of fresh air from those generic COD Zombie Mods. The main difference is that you don't really have guns, and it's based more on survival than on kill count. It's coming out this September I believe.

Really looking forward to this, but it looks like one of those games that will get boring after a couple of hours and then bring you back to play the following day, only to have a repeat of the same scenario.

Anyone pre-ordered yet?

Looked very good at first, and then it began going downhill a little bit after watching the game play video.

Realism? Wtf with the electric machete?

Voice acting, sort of odd.

Somehow it gives me "Hellgate London" vibes.

I'd buy this game and toy around with it. But Idk if it'd be an instant favourite.

The voice acting is terrible... and guess what. I love it. Why you ask? It's a freakin zombie game... just have a bunch of witty one liners and allow me to kill zombies in every single way possible and I'm good. I love to hate zombies. Some of you may know that I play zombie games religiously (coughbelowcough). So yeah, making an open world, open questing, RPG style zombie game is like mixing Fallout, L4D, and a hint of Demon Souls (melee focus combat)... and you have Dead Island. Will I be buying it? Yes.

Will I hope to play co-op on PS3 with other people on this forum? I hope so!

TMR, I totally agree. The zombie aspect is getting me sold on the game so far. But as for the game being the type I'd chat and love to discuss with others, I seriously doubt it.

Voice acting... would have been nicer if it wasn't so monotonous sounding. That's probably the main beef I have.

Sounds like a great game with inebriation.

Exactly, being drunk killing zombies sounds like a great idea (I'm sure people have done it before). I mean, I'm not judging this game on it's voice acting merits (even though most of the voice actors are probably polish, haha)... I think it will be more like the terrible dubbing of asian films that had come to the US in the 80's. Was the voice acting great? Hell no... but was it funny/memorable? You bet your ass on it.

This won't be the be all end all game of the year... but it's a nice addition for those who love the zombie niche. If it does turn out to be game of the year (which can happen, the game has a lot of buzz)... then I say GREAT! More people to play with in Co-Op. It's less than a month away from release and the game has already gone gold. Let's hope for favorable reviews

PS: Skyrim will be the likely winner of GoTY

EDIT PPS: I hope there is an achievement in the game where you have to kill every single zombie in the game. Seeing as how it's an island, I'm thinking 100,000-500,000 people. Yes, I killed all 3 million zombies in Dead Rising in 3 days. It's cause I'm a boss. (actually, I was hovering around the 100K mark :P)

Portal 2 has a better chance at that. Skyrim will release in November and none of the elder scroll's games have been as highly rated as Portal 2. Though you never know, Skyrim might surprise me and be good without mods (oblivion wasn't, in my view).

So apparently there are unique skill trees for each of the characters (ultimate replayability). This game is actually shaping up to be something I will really like to play for awhile. Now if it had the entire island to explore, collectable items, and some cool Trophies (Achievements) to get... I will love it.

Also a good interview about the game itself: Dead Island Interview

I tried to find how big the island actually is... so far, it's basically said that the entire island is explorable. And from the interview, it does have collectable items... :P

Zombie RPG-esque is a rare genre. Which is why I was somewhat piqued.

but seriously, I'm disappointed in the voice acting. Yakuza 4 had great voice acting, over the top at times, but it was awesome.

Voice acting doesn't make the game, does it? It's gameplay that's mostly important in a game (along with story, length, etc.). Voice acting only really helps with the story aspect, but I don't think terrible voice acting will ruin the game (and might even make for a comical side of the game).

Obviously, I'm looking at it optimistically. If the voice acting ruins the reviews of this game without any other real flaws... then videogame reviewers are either too pessimistic or people's expectations of video games is getting too high with AAA titles. Remember, this studio is not as big as EA or Activision... but at least they are taking a stab at a genre that not that many people get into.

It doesn't make the game, that's true. But poor voice acting can totally put suffering in your experience with the game itself.

Hell, see many of the annoyances with dubs we have about anime.

Hell, see many of the annoyances with dubs we have about anime.

There is a VERY far difference between anime and videogames. Fallout 3 and NV are both probably the buggiest games ever to hit the market... does it ruin them completely? Heck no. I understand that a lot of us (myself included) like our anime in Japanese and it's very authentic. I however, think that the voice acting will not kill the game seeing as how I'm just suppose to kill a shit ton of zombies (which I aim to do). Will I rip my ears out when I'm given a quest? Quite possibly (I mean, the voice acting IS terrible from what we're seen).

All there is to do now is wait until the game is released and find out for ourselves!

I never argued against this point. But reasoning is also subjective in this sense. I am a bit hesitant based on the voice acting so far, but if more is released in terms of gameplay, I guess I could bite the bullet and focus on that instead of the characters that seem uninterested in their own goals.

Dude, don't bite the bullet. If you don't enjoy the game or your uneasy about it... wait til all the reviews are out for it then be the judge yourself. Even I don't want you being in pain because I know it's hard to part with $60 (or your equivalent new game release price point).
