but seriously, I'm disappointed in the voice acting. Yakuza 4 had great voice acting, over the top at times, but it was awesome.

Voice acting doesn't make the game, does it? It's gameplay that's mostly important in a game (along with story, length, etc.). Voice acting only really helps with the story aspect, but I don't think terrible voice acting will ruin the game (and might even make for a comical side of the game).

Obviously, I'm looking at it optimistically. If the voice acting ruins the reviews of this game without any other real flaws... then videogame reviewers are either too pessimistic or people's expectations of video games is getting too high with AAA titles. Remember, this studio is not as big as EA or Activision... but at least they are taking a stab at a genre that not that many people get into.

It doesn't make the game, that's true. But poor voice acting can totally put suffering in your experience with the game itself.

Hell, see many of the annoyances with dubs we have about anime.

There is a VERY far difference between anime and videogames. Fallout 3 and NV are both probably the buggiest games ever to hit the market... does it ruin them completely? Heck no. I understand that a lot of us (myself included) like our anime in Japanese and it's very authentic. I however, think that the voice acting will not kill the game seeing as how I'm just suppose to kill a shit ton of zombies (which I aim to do). Will I rip my ears out when I'm given a quest? Quite possibly (I mean, the voice acting IS terrible from what we're seen).

All there is to do now is wait until the game is released and find out for ourselves!

I never argued against this point. But reasoning is also subjective in this sense. I am a bit hesitant based on the voice acting so far, but if more is released in terms of gameplay, I guess I could bite the bullet and focus on that instead of the characters that seem uninterested in their own goals.

Dude, don't bite the bullet. If you don't enjoy the game or your uneasy about it... wait til all the reviews are out for it then be the judge yourself. Even I don't want you being in pain because I know it's hard to part with $60 (or your equivalent new game release price point).
