Un-Go [Series]

Un-Go
AniDB | Official
Extra Pictures
(click to show/hide)

Type: TV Series (?? Episodes) I Movie (1 Episode)
Release TV Series: 14.10.2011 till ?
Release Movie: 19.11.2011
Genre: Bishounen, Novel
Official Title: UN-GO | UN-GO episode:0 因果論
Original Work: Sakaguchi Ango
Music: Narasaki
Animation Work: BONES
Description: The main characters, Yuuki Shinjuurou and Inga, work together to solve mysteries in a near future timeline. The story is based on the works of Sakaguchi Ango (Aoi Bungaku Series' "In the Forest, Under Cherries in Full Bloom"), a post-World War II Japanese novel and essayist.

The staff from Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood team up once again to produce Un-Go. Do I need to say anything more than that? FMA: BH is a bad ass anime that scored very high on AniDB, achieving 9.4 in both Fan ratings and Review ratings! If you haven't seen FMA: BH, you need to go see it. It's a must-watch. The Animation Work is being handled by BONES as the Original story was done by Sakaguchi Ango. Other producers I didn't mention previously worked together on Gundam 00 series.

No additional information have been released on Seiyu for Un-Go. Only two characters were unveiled:

Inga | Yuuki Shinjuurou

Inga's gender is currently not known.

In all, this won't over-take Fate/Zero or Shakugan no Shana III's spot lights, but it will be a pretty good series to watch. Enjoy!

Someone needs to go play Fate/Stay Night VN. Or, go look up what Fate series has done from awards to sales.

Fate/Zero -- AniDB

As for Shakugan no Shana III, it might be a tearjerker. I want more action and some good tear jerking scenes.

I dont know about Fate series but Shakugan has already proved that after the first season(which i found at least interesting) it went downhill(the secong season was full of crap).

Lol for that to happen they need another Urobutchi, does the staff / studio cast listing even hint of this happening? Otherwise i just detect another detective novel which is still good btw.

Okay then... very unusual first episode. Looks kind of like... Sherlock Holmes with heavy political influences.

Oh. And Inga is a chick.

It scares me that recently on some shows we agree.
And yeah, Inga is a chick.

This episode didn't actually raise a flag for me but it did pique my interest. Ever since the bath scene I was thinking it was her. I hope this was just easy mode, since I knew that woman SP would not leave that girl even with that woman, and there they showed her moving I knew it was her. The clues are pretty visible, at least in this episode.

I liked this detective show. And what was really neat, is that they worked it like a good magician. The clues were right in front of us the entire time, and yet I still didn't guess whodunnit right. That is difficult to just write, but to also include the animation in the set-up is unheard. Way cool.

I don't think we are going to get much in the way of character development.

Yeah. Or complex stories. Why do they take famous Japanese crime stories as a base to then solve it all in 50 seconds with Inga's magic eyes? *sigh* When I think about Mouryou no Hako - that's how a good crime story is done. But that was before Gosick (which is still the best of the crop) and its followers.

And Inga is

But whatever. It's early in the show yet, it would be nice to be surprised by sudden quality.

I don't think they are going to give us anything difficult to think on. Gosick had simple and complex mysteries, they laid clues all over for them, but some were so well hidden it was hard to figure out at first glance.

The first episode didn't provide anything hard so maybe they just poke us with something easy for starters and we will see some hard puzzles later on. Which I hope for.

Huh. Watching this episode time just flew by for me. Now if only it had been more memorable, I would have called it very good. So I call it only good.

I suppose next week I'll find out if this was a two-part show, or that really was the end of the story. So, will this show begin to have longer story arcs, or what? I'm fine if they can do a multiple episode story, as long as they hit the cliffhangers right.

This case was so predictable, so much that they had to enhance it by an episode and put another mystery in it. Otherwise it would be so stupidly easy to figure out it pains.

The most recent version I watched required stopping the show several times in order to be able to read the subtitles.

I am not accustomed to crimes being solved in 1/2 hour. Seems a shame they have to cut 1/2 a show out.

Un-Go is one of the must watch animes of this season. While the crime and mystery them is the most evident throughout the series, I admire how the producers are able to intertwine the aspects and incorporate to the backdrop of the series. For instance, most of the crimes are committed as a result of the war, both during the war and in retrospect. From Yonganahime 3+1 to Kaishou Rinroku, Un-Go presents all these problems and lays all these out in the most entertaining of fashion.

One of my favorite weekly mystery solving anime in the past few years.

It's got the appropriate blend of sci fi and mystery.  Plus, it doesn't drag mysteries on to the point of boring you like that one NEET detective show last season.
