this applies to wired broadbands as well.

That won't work for load balancing.
What you need to do, is download pfsense (or other Linux router that supports this), install it on a spare PC or a virtual machine, then set up load balancing on the two connections.
I have used this (to combine DSL and Wi-Fi) and yes, it increases downloads and upload on BitTorrent. However, when you download a file from a single server (like HTTP), you will only get single speed.

Of all the frustrations of smartbro-ken, I have "persuaded" my parents to upgrade to skybroadband but I would have only 6 mbps plan....
Now, perhaps all of the discussions about skybroadband having caps in upload/download, I would try to be more aware by inquiring to them about this... I am changing ISP next week... Although damn... there is a fee on disconnection for my current ISP... oh well, that's life...
I have looked on some forums about skybroadband plan 6 mbps having high upload speeds but I think even with the caps and stuff, the data uploaded/downloaded would still be more in sky than smartbro's lame canopy-based sustained data transfer rates... Also we may include the Air Delays and jitters (since I am a bit far from the base station) of the canopy!

start asking how they'd deal on people that passes the cap, i.e. bayantel disconnects you, pldt throttles heavily and charges you by per/gb basis additionally, eastern telecom slightly throttles and charges you by per/gb basis additionally.

SO you are saying all PH ISPs have caps??? Damn it...

No. Most wired plans don't have caps nor throttles heavy users. Wireless is a different matter. They have to place caps/throttle wireless otherwise the service will seriously be degraded.
Get a wired plan if you don't want have cap/throttling issues.
