Urusei Yatsura - Viewing Order?

Wondering if there was any particular viewing order for Urusei Yatsura?

Getting the TV series and will get the movies and OVAs as well eventually.

(Will be buying the series/movies/OVAs as well on DVD, probably will end up costing me a fortune but such is life)

Just go ep. 1-xxx. Do the movies more on the later side, rather than earlier in your series viewing. That way there is no real danger of getting ahead of yourself.

I would like to know if we are missing anything from this series. There appear to be three batches:

So with 81-86, 83-91, 85-08, we'll definitely have overlap. I like the idea of watching the films after. We could probably look at the timing of the releases to know when during the TV span to watch some films though. Info about this on:

We actually seem to be missing 1 OVA. Released February 15, 1986, it is called "Making of Urusei Yatsura 4: Lum the Forever". It doesn't appear to be in either the film batch accompanying Lum the Forever, nor the OVA batch. Everything else on Wikipedia seems to be there though.

Since I plan to watch this too, will list release dates for OVAs/films then compare them to TV series. Here is order as best I can tell:

TV seasons 1-3 take place from 1981 to 1982 so watch them first.

TV season 4 runs from Jan5-March 23 during which the first film releases midway:
FILM1 1983 Feb 13 Only You

TV seasons 5-6 then take place April 13 1983-January 11 1984.

TV season 7 runs January 18 to March 28, 1984, during which the second film releases:
FILM2 1984 Feb 11 Beautiful Dreamer

TV season 8 runs April 11 to September 26.

TV season 9 runs October 17 to April 3, 1985, during which the third film airs:

TV season 10 runs April 10 to March 19, 1986, during which the first OVA, the 'making of fourth film' and the fourth film air:

I'm not exactly sure what the continuity is, or if there is any. At times, OVAs and films are given decimal-based episode numbers to indicate where in the main TV series they might exist. I would call the film for the Major baseball anime 'episode 26.5' for example, since it connects the first season where Goro is a young boy, and the second season where he's a teenager.

Does anyone who has watched all of this have numbers like that? Are there any indications where in the TV continuity an OVA or film event might take place? Or is it too random to plot out?

Until I hear otherwise I'm going to go TV>Films>OVAs, based on what debuted first. Just easier to remember that way.
