Warhammer 40.000 : Space Marine
« on: July 28, 2011, 08:11:44 AM »

Launching September 6th

I dare to say the trailer left me all excited :)

THQ Trailer :
http://www.thq.com/uk/thqtv/index?movieId=5248

Fans of Warhammer 40K are happy, I am too, but I will truly be happy if there will be more than just Space marine :)

Gotta say, directly playing as the Space Marine is going to be ... bloody :D

I am excited about the game and will play it and then probably replay it several times.

But WHY??? Why do they give us the Space Smurfs? The most boring chapter in the lore, They really have no uniqueness or any cool traits. That chapter is as bland and stereotypical as a space marine can be.

How I would love to play Salamanders, that would let me start the game wearing an artificer armour or Space Wolves that are just badass. Hell, since chaos is present in this game, how awesome would it be to play as Grey Knights?
For one thing, Tiff is not on any level what I would call a typical American.  She's not what I would consider a typical person.  I don't know any other genius geneticist anime-fan martial artist marksman model-level beauties, do you?

I am fairly sure this will give us The Last Stand type of game as well as multi player so you will likely be able to change colors and stuff, but I agree i will play this game several times, this trailer made me really excited.

I seen an Eldar Farseer among the Orks, There is the Chaos Sorcerer and Champion, so this is a good start off into a nice Multi player game setup, I only hope we can equip different wargear between missions or even better, change it between one hundred killed enemies and another :)

We have to wait and see for that, I am surprised that the Graphical Engine is rather lowered, but it perfectly fits this game, I mean, even a candy chopped and all bloodied will not look any better with true HD graphics, I don't mind the Graphics they showed us in the trailer.

I already wish it was out :) AHHHH i wanna kill hordes of heretics and orks and eldar filth already !!!!

Oh Wait, I can do that in The Last Stand :) off to slay 500 units :D

More than thirty chapters of Space Marines are represented as base color sets but you're free to make your unique Marine by swapping out helmets, chests and individual arms and legs. Each component can be painted individually from an impressive range of official colors from Games Workshop's Citadel line of paints and battle details can be switched on or off, allowing you to look like a battle-worn soldier or the crisp, clean fist of the Emperor

Ok, nevermind what I said, looks like in multiplayer I can really play the chapters I want.

I hope it will work tons better than Steam's MP, personally I had zero problems with GFWL and have a shit ton of problems with steam :P
But first, i'll play 5 times the singleplayer campaign (or team up if it allows it) before playing MP :)

Oh come on! you know you want to stick a plasma pistol in a Mekboys jaw and push the trigger XD

I will definitely be picking this game up... and I really hope a lot of other people do the same. I mean, the MP is only 8v8... but that's what will make it more fun. That... and the insane amount of customizations you can do to make your Space Marine. If they put in a survival mode in this game, I will be set with my Warhammer 40K fix until the MMO.

For anyone interested (even remotely)... watch this MP preview.

I am going to say it:

FUCKING AWESOME XD

And I hope more races will be implemented, like Eldar, Orks, IG, maybe not tyranids but who knows, the Warrior is pretty good size and fast, then you could get Tau and Necrons and even Sisters Of Battle :)

Always liked the 40k universe so hoping the game will be fun. Personally I think Space Marines are kinda boring and it would be awesome with an Ork campaign!

The return of Kaptin Bluddflagg!
Dont know what to put here

I think they know it mate, it's just that Space Marines differ from one to another that it makes it so interesting.

I think they will implement more races and campaigns for them, it would feel wrong not to.

I am a fan myself, so it feels bad to crush hopes and dreams of a fellow fan, but please, for your ow sake, don't expect too much. I will give you one example:

Warhammer 40K: Fire Warrior.

A linear shooter where campaign is played through a Tau recruit and has multiplayer, but was never extended beyond that neither in forms of expansions, nor DLCs.

This game might be the same thing. Maybe THQ is just using this game to strengthen the Warhammer 40K IP for the video game audience before releasing their MMO of the title.
I will enjoy the game for what it is and maybe check out some mods for it sooner or later, but I will not have very high expansion expectations, I would suggest you do the same.

I don't expect anything myself, but something of this level and this fanbase, it would be a shame not to go further. Times have changed since the Fire Warrior game, DOW2 was an excellent proof that the fanbase made it clear, "we want more and we are willing to pay for it"

It might be a try out of some mechanics, honestly, I would prefer more games with multiplayer and singleplayer like DOW2, just improved, over an MMO.

I would certainly like to play all races in DOW2 before the MMO came out, the DOW2 original gameplay (not retribution which was piss easy and made the game unpleasant) would be a lot of fun.

NEED TO PLAY THE DEMO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Though I do agree on that, Ultramarienes are the wimpiest SM ever in the history of the Chapters.

Maybe they gonna try redeeming them (lol a pun non intended since retribution is the most favorite word of Blood Ravens when they kill enemies XD)

More than orks I am interested what other possible races are going to visit this game if any in possible expansions (which I will personally buy for the good ol skull splatering or any other reasons that lead to slaughter and carnage)

Voice acting is decent, and WTF i had no idea about those aspect ratios myself ROFLMAO WTF OMG I DON'T EVEN

A lot of options and settings for a Demo, leave game development to Relic guys, they know what NOT to do and they usually don't do shit.

Its been a while since I played a game this awesome, will probably be disappointed by a short campaign like usual so hoping multiplayer will be nice.

If you could play as Orks this would be one of my favorite games ever!

Space marines are dorks!

Split screens doesn't make sense on a PC. However on consoles... well, only fags play FPS on consoles.

There are a shit ton of fags in the world then.. lol

Yeah, split screen doesn't work on PC... and this game kinda was made for PC while being ports to the PS3 and 360. After watching the demo footage (I don't have a PC to play modern PC games yet, but I will when TOR comes out!), I'm actually quite excited for the release and I will definitely look at the reviews before I purchase my PS3 copy. I just hope enough people buy it for the PS3 so I can play multiplayer. If not, there is always BF3 (I've already said screw MW3, it's gonna be dead on arrival honestly).

I would agree though, Space Marine does look better than Gears of War... that... and it's fucking relic making this game. The very same relic that makes great RTS's who seem to ALSO know how to make a good Third Person Shooter... bravo!

An obvious statement  ;)

Relic keeps making cool Warhammer40K games while Vigil Games are working on their MMO. Once they are finished with Dark Millenium Online, a whole shitload of gamers will be familiar with 40K making it a solid IP for the MMO in the industry.

The best part is: we gamers benefit from whatever they seem to be doing.
