Finnish people GATHER!

<< < (10/17) > >>

Goroshi-sama:
I heard a rumor that Daiz is from Finland!
HORY SHET! CAN SOMEONE PROVE THIS TO ME!

rostheferret:
To any resident Finns: what should a tourist look out for? (I'm thinking food and general things of interest, I'll be in Helsinki if that's important).

JoonasTo:
1. Get the fuck out of Helsinki.
2. Get the fuck out of Helsinki.
3. GET THE FUCK OUT OF HELSINKI!

Now that that's done you should go hiking/camping/do whatever you want and sleep wherever you want since you're actually allowed to do that. Just no camping on someone else's lawn. Also fish, gather flowers, berries and mushrooms. And hunt russians. Yes. All of that's allowed. Except maybe the russians, just hunt swedes instead and it's all good.

Food, ugh, finnish food is quite lame. I recommend sauteed reindeer, fried pikeperch or smoked trout. All of those are going to be hard to obtain/expensive in Helsinki though.

Helsinki is really quite boring, there's nothing much. You could check the universities' sign boards for parties though. There are a lot of those, not so much during summer though. Just go drinking, make it your mission to walk through "Helsinginkatu" and have a drink at each bar on the way. It will make for an interesting week.  :D
(or a month)  ;D

Three days :P The other three will be spent in Tallinn. I can't stand staying in one place too long unless there's a butt load to do, and there rarely is...

I've been told about what beers to look out for, were both musicians so the music uni is already marked on my map, and I was given a tip on a cocktail called the "Hammer and Sickle," but I honestly don't know how reliable the information is. 1 part Vana Tallinn to 4 parts Russian White Wine (apparently). Our hotel is also a short stroll from Tavastia too... ^_^

Might have to try the reindeer...

^ Try a day trip to Hanko, long sand beaches, bars, and much more :P also, there you can find a lot of fresh fish for kind of cheap. They Speak finnish and swedish 50-50 there and also there is quite good service in english.

also, Tampere might be a good place to visit and don't forget Savonlinna.
