If you come from UK then there isn't really anything that interesting in Helsinki music wise, unless you want to go check out local metal or punk scene.
Tavastia might be worth visiting depending on the live show. Same goes for Apollo Live and Club Liberte(free WLAN).
3rd Line is worth it if you want a smaller place.
As for underground club you can probably ditch that idea there isn't really any.
Also not a single killer electronic one.

You could always see if you can find some university summer lectures and see if there's anything interesting. They're open to everyone who just happens to walk in. (except medical)

All in all Tallinn is a lot more interesting city than Helsinki, at least it has an old town. And it's like 1/4th of the price.

Oh and Helsinki is a terrible place to get around. The public transportation absolutely sucks, getting from A to B takes a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time unless they're on the direct tram or metro rails. Buses take forever since they do all kinds of stupid curves and route planing is horrible. Usually the easiest way to get from A to B is take a bus to the central railway station and another one from there.

PS. Finland is considered Western Europe.

I wasn't sure. I always thought "west enough" but no offence intended. Like I said, the music uni is on my list so we'll hit that early on, if not the first day. Tavastia is playing bugger all but I thought might be worth seeing anyway (or not on gig nights?). Im a metal fiend (and critic!) so if theres better let me know.

Of the Scandinavian countries, Finland is probably the best. Winter War earns my respect.

But your summers are cold, I was in Helsinki for a couple days this summer and it was like 15c every day.

I'm surprised at the small range of temperatures that Helsinki experiences, though. Toronto's range is greater.

Your sources are totally fucked up. That doesn't hold true.
They usually range from -30 celcius to +30 celcious. Helsinki is a coastal city so it's a little less than elsewhere in Finland.

Eastern/Northern Finland is usually -40 to +30. On Russian wind years like this and the last, it's between -50 and +40, on european wind years it's usually -20 to +30.

BTW have we seen a picture of tomoya?
When and how did you travel to helsinki and from helsinki?
You traveling alone?

Yes somewhere in this forums there are pictures of me, and I was away for something like 2-3 weeks in europe but I had internet so it was like i never left.
