Last time I was around when Ore no Imouto was airing, any suggestions as to the best stuff that's come out since then?

Cheers.

...how are we supposed to give you recommendations based on one single title? Give us a list of anime you love, or genres you prefer.

Agreed.

X3OY - you've been registered here for 2 full years.  You know how this works.

That said, I took a quick glance at your Inactive list on your tracker profile.  That, combined with you're basically looking for anything in the past 12-16 months or so ...

Give these a look at:

 • Sora no Woto
 • Kaichou wa Maid-sama!
 • Occult Academy | Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin
 • Otome Youkai Zakuro | Spirit Girl Zakuro
 • Hyakka Ryouran: Samurai Girls
 • Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt

They're all pretty recent and seem to have some crossover into other titles you've grabbed here.
I win, once again, in my never-ending struggle against victory.

Fair enough :)
Here's a few off the top of my head: Clannad, Spice and Wolf, Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu, Katanagatari, Bakemonogatari, Fate/Stay Night, Angel Beats, Umineko no naku koro ni, Rozen Maiden, Death Note, Railgun, Kimi ni Todoke, Shakugan no Shana, CANAAN, Darker than Black.

Thanks, really appreciate this. :)

Sorry about my apparent lack of information, I was really just trying to see what was popular these days sort of thing.

The main thing want to avoid is taking the time to recommend something you've already seen.  With Spice & Wolf, Haruhi, Katanagatari, Bakemonogatari, Railgun & Kimi ni Todoke on that list, I'm gonna suggest you take a look over my tracker profile.  There appears to be quite a bit of crossover in our tastes (I'll forgive you for Deathnote & CANAAN  ;) ).  If you've not seen it yet, NOIR is something I consider to be a vastly superior similar-to-CANAAN kind of genre, even if it's quite a bit older than your request.

Also, these four shorts come to mind; very entertaining and diverse, they're quite recent:

2010 Young Animators' Training Project

 • Kizuna Ichigeki
 • Ojiisan no Lamp
 • Super Veggie Torracman
 • Wardrobe Dwellers
I win, once again, in my never-ending struggle against victory.

I liked Ano Hanna, Denpa Onna, Hanasaku Iroha (ongoing) and have heard good things about Steins Gate (ongoing) from last season (Spring 2011).
