VPN or Seedbox?

no offense but you still remember what the topic was about? it's not about whatever YOU need but whether a Seedbox or a VPN is better especially from a security pov.
i didn't "suddenly butt in" neither did i insult you. i corrected a blatant misrepresentation you wrote regarding the security and usability of Seedboxes.
you said Seedboxes made more effort than needed -> wrong. they actually save you time and make your torrent traffic easier to control (from anywhere) not to mention the lowered effort of anything to seed back.
you said by using Seedbox you'll still get caught downloading the stuff, implying (remember the topic?) that wouldn't be the case for VPNs -> wrong. there is actually a second layer of protection by using a seedbox because your connection to the seedbox itself is just as secure as your connection to the VPN and you can always claim third party abuse, which is hard to disprove, which in turn means they can only get you for negligence.
that it'll never be possible to ship the CD does not prove any of those points, it just makes you look like you have no idea what you are talking about for bringing this "option" in the discussion.

i'm sorry, i generally tend to not read much in anything but the bakabt related section of the forum, so i was not aware this is a common occurrence. i assumed it was a genuinely misinformed person distorting the fact finding mission on the OP.
kitamesume:
lemme get this straight, i know what i know so:
if you have, lets say 4mbps line, using a seedbox does not necessarily make your line go any higher than that. correct?
you are still required to download the files from the seedbox. correct?
using a seedbox hides your traffic from the ISP. correct?
if your line's speed fluctuates madly because of your ISP throttling you then the connection to the seedbox will fluctuate as well. correct?
if your download speed is hitting the 4mbps cap on a file and is taking 48hrs to download, using a seedbox to download that file would still take 48hrs at best to download because your line cant go any faster than 4mbps. correct?
if your speed is not an issue and you can run your PC 24hrs a day but your ISP isnt allowing you to download torrents, using a VPN bypasses that restriction. seedbox would then be pretty much an alternate option in this scenario. correct?
seeding on the seedbox is an advantage instead of seeding on your machine that has limited bandwidth and time of operation. correct?
if seeding was not an issue then the seedbox would then become an alternate option. correct?
.
confirm these for me, thats it for now.

On topic:
I'm using Evoboxes' 'Leaf' Plan and so far I'm very happy. The speed is pretty good and you get a dedicated IP + root access. With root access you can set up a vpn on the box, so you would get both: VPN and Seedbox. The only problem is that they don't offer plans below £22. Still, their 450GB/100Mbit plan is cheaper than the one whatbox offers.

The problem with all the seedboxes I'm seeing, is that they're in the US, Canada, France... none of which particularly well known for protection against DMCA...
(click to show/hide)These are the only two decent looking ones I've found, despite their locations... (I'm not really willing to pay more than ~$15 a month for a seedbox...)
http://whatbox.ca/
https://www.seedunlimited.com/
I mean, it's looking like I'd have to use false information and some kind of anonymous prepaid cards I could buy in person with cash somewhere, never having to exchange real information (Cause y'know, we've seen Paypal is willing to hand over information)... But even then, I mean what... Would I still need to get a VPN to download from the seedbox?
*sigh*... My paranoia may be getting the better of me, but this is looking grim.

get a seedbox that is not in your home country. this alone should deflect all common attempts to extort money from you.
as long as your ftp connection to the seedbox is encrypted your isp doesn't know shit about what you are transferring (they can't even guess by usage patterns thanks to the fact that the transfer is straight up the same as when you for example download an update for some of your games and completely disconnected from the torrent traffic) and a company enforcing something for a US based company likely won't follow up on a lead to a let's say german ip address that shows up in their torrent sniffer. it's just to much effort to call in favors to get a single person that possibly might be a US citizen to get some money out of him.
a VPN between you and the seedbox will not prevent tracing - it just means they have to somehow extort the information from yet another company about the person behind the connection.
no matter how secure a single connection is, there is always an in and out point. if you can't trust those points any encryption whatsoever is useless. layering multiple secured connection into each only increases the effort required to get to the actual data, not removes the possibility entirely.
