Which model of popcorn hour did you use for those screenshots couple posts back? Does it work like that out of the box? After a little digging, I can get the A-110, A-200, S-210 and C-200 over here. The specs look mostly the same +/- some internet features.

That looks promising, way better than the WD, Asus and AC ryan players I've been looking at. Is their firmware support good?

Yes out of the box. That is what you would see using the c200,A200,A210, Firmware support is great. A200/A210 is same unit one is just a metal case other is plastic with a fan, The new popbox v8 that was announced at IFA should look the same to but I cant be for sure yet till i get my hands on one it would be the cheapest solution at 139 euro.   Dont get the A110 its almost 4 years old now. And the S110 is used for digital signage not home use

Even though they all run the same sigma chip the WD/AC ryan the trick is all in the version of the sdk they use. AC and WD never moved to the newer sdk which contained the newer ASS/SSA engine

Get a real SQL database. =)

--- Quote from: glitchhunter on September 03, 2011, 11:56:32 PM ---I'm not going to spend, say $150, totaling $600, to replace my 4 2TB externals with USB 3.0 2TB externals. Maybe one day, but certainly not anytime soon, as they are only for back ups/watching animu when I'm on holiday. Even if I did need to transfer stuff between computers, it's less annoying to copypasta while sitting down than to plug in a usb, copy stuff, plug it in my laptop, and then pasta it there. Sure, when I need a new external, I'll get a USB 3.0, but it has no reason to be plugged into my laptop as I store nothing there. My main computer has a USB 3.0 port for that reason. I can see your point, but I really don't need it.

I wasn't telling you to replace them. My point was that USB 3.0 support makes your system more "future-proof," so that if you ever end up purchasing something that uses USB 3.0, you would be able to use it to its full potential.

But hey, suit yourself.

There's a first for everything. And most people are nervous on their first attempt.

Hah, I didn't even do anything. Just pointed some things, really.

Haha. Maybe I would get a proper SQL database if it was for more than just me. I already have to go through over 2000 entries and get video details and anime information, put keywords, links to AniDB.... etc. It'll already be months more before I get it up to date >_> Don't want to start using a more complicated database structure to make things even more difficult for myself. I don't want to do that fancy ASP making it load on a webpage stuff with it either. Well, I'd like too, it would make it a lot more searchable. But I only know a little Javascript and VBScript and it's too hard to learn more~

Yea -_-' With the HDD thing, my current laptop's compartment was starting to become really loose. I was so nervous about even tightening the screws on it that I just masking taped it on. But, hey, it fixed the problem ^o^

Freedom Kira:
(click to show/hide)Asp.NET is not that difficult. I learned it from scratch for my work term starting in January and got the hang of it after a few days. I'm now pretty advanced in it.

You don't really need JavaScript or VBScript for .NET programming. Personally I used C# for code-behind. I also used a lot of JavaScript but it's not entirely necessary to create something that works.

Masking tape? Lol, come on, take the leap.

Thanks for the info mate. Much appreciated.  ;D

Now to hunt down a set so I can test some clips.

(click to show/hide)Is it really not that difficult to use Asp.NET? I mean, I've only pulled simple tables from Access with ASP (using VBScript). Is C# easier? (I have not used that before). Could I use this to make my Access database more searchable, kind of like a library catalogue? Access's in-built search function is horrid.

Also, my masking tape is win. It works, and I'm getting a new laptop soon anyway :P
