How. when and where did you learn to swim?

Ixarku:
Considering that I live in Florida, I should probably know how to swim a lot better than I do, but I never had any kind of organized training that I can remember.  I've never been a strong swimmer, and even now I don't like being in water deeper than I can stand in without it going over my head.

VampireLord:
when i was about 6 my dad toke me and my brother to the swiming pool...
he tought us how to swim it was summer i think before i enter school....
then later when i was in 3rd grade the school would take us every week
to a swimming pool and they tought us lots of ways of swiming.....
and next year i joined the swiming club at school i continued learning
new ways and techniches....

AceHigh:
For as long as I remember, I was always floating. Who taught me? Probably instinct.

To me a question like "how did you learn to swim?" is identical to "how did you learn to breath?". It's just a thing you do automatically. To me it's weird that some people can't float in the water, I mean, you guys can breathe, right? That air in the lungs keeps you floating.

As for swimming techniques, I learned them from older relatives, friends and school, but front stroke is the one that came naturally to me and i use it all the time when I swim.

Soryon:
I was taught at around the age of 2. I lived on a lake my whole life and so became proficient.
I am not a fan of swimming, but I am good at it.

Havoc10K:
Got dropped into water when I was 6, instincts kicked in.
