nVidia GeForce 280.26 Driver Update

I was running driver 275.xx until few moments ago. I had little slow issues ever since I updated that driver. I've also experienced slows in gaming (even in WoW ... makes me laugh). I'm running 2x 560 GTX Ti SC SLI-Mode. So I updated to this driver today and things are much smoother than before. I've also noticed applications starting faster, including FireFox. I'm pretty happy about this. I just felt like ranting about this ever since I updated to 275.xx which screwed my entertainment without my knowledge.

Anyone experienced stuff like this before?

well obviously updating to the latest driver is usually a good thing... watch out for bugs though, heh.

I'm still good with the previous one, all this adds is a bunch of 3D profiles which I don't really need.

The previous one I had before 275.xx was really good. I liked it. Everything was working as intended (fast, reliable, etc). When I play WoW and during heavy load times (pop hero, CDs, use raid-wide defensive CDs, etc) all around the same time I play fine. But with 275.xx I started to lag like hell. So either the install didn't go right, or there was some bugs/issues with 275.xx.

I update for the sake of updating. It makes me feel fresh.

usually updates, even small updates, has fixes in them. though for a while now their fixes are concentrated on 3D stuffs...

Did you try rolling back the driver, or system restoring to before you installed the driver? I would have done that. Updates don't always improve things.

One of their driver updates permanently damaged my old GTX 280 card. >_>... it eventually died on me.

I just noticed another thing and this is really great for my system. My GPU temperature meters were 54-58 Celsius (first card) and second one usually 57-65 Celsius - This is in patch 275.xx and when I'm basically not playing any games, videos, etc.

Now, with patch 280.26, my first card is around 44-47 Celsius and my second card is about 37 Celsius on average. Wow, I like this. Less heat inside the case!

I'm obsessive about software updates. Updated even though the older driver ran fine.

This gave me a slight 3dmark11 boost in score of about 100, so happy I am.
