In my opinion, the first season ruined most of the girls and had terrible flow.  They gave little reason for the girls to suddenly fall for the main character in episode 3 and downright ruined certain characters with the cheesy dialogue and fanservice.  It was embarrassing to watch just because how much they were catering to the avg shy guy who could never get a date in high school.  Sorry but relationships don't work like that, girls don't magically fall in love with you just because you listen to their troubles or lick their knees.  Those people are usually 'friendzoned'.

At this point I'd rather they just focused on one girl like most shows do.  Problem is, if they're only going to pick one girl, I know they'd either pick Haruka or Sae and I don't care about those girls anyway.  Now if they focused on Kaoru or Rihoko, then it would be interesting.

^ I feel the same way.. I didn't care for most of the girls except for Kaoru (best arc)and Rihoko. I felt the story was rushed and didn't make sense some times. I was actually kind of really mad at this show for having such short arcs and so many characters. There was too many ecchi situations as well.

This is Harem so we all ready know that the lead is going to be some loser or outcast that gets the attention of all the girls while possessing no redeeming qualities. I would never date that guy and most of the time found it embarrassing to watch as well. This should get a Fantasy tag tbh...

Lmbo Sae(so much moe I felt the need to puke) and Morishima were my least favorite arcs! And yeah, I'd bet a million bucks they would be the ones chosen if they were to only have one or two arcs. Or Ai, so much fanservice and ecchi it was painful to watch.

I just want to see the continuation of Kaoru and Rihoko's arcs. The only believable and romantic arcs. Those two make me a fan of this show even though I talk negatively about Amagami SS, I still like it because of Kaoru and Rihoko.

And I loved the ending themes.

I'm a girl that has never played the game, only watched the anime. This is my opinion so don't jump down my throat boys. Not enough Shoujo so I have to test the waters of Seinen romances quite often.

*digs around in the old topic* So, I found my old list...

1) Morishima Haruka
2) Ayatsuji Tsukasa
3) Tanamachi Kaoru
4) Nanasaki Ai
5) Sakurai Rihoko
6) Nakata Sae

Oddly enough I remember all the arcs in detail xD Well, except Rihoko's, which I refused to watch due to that awful voice. It's a shame, as I liked her. And I just plain despised Sae. But regardless I'm looking forward to more!

Totally.  And I think that's the problem.  Everyone has their own favorite characters.  They probably would have done better just having 3 separate series with 13 episodes per girl.  it feels like such a waste if thy're going to make a second season now.  Why not make the show like 52 episodes and give every character 8-13 episodes?

For season 2, I personally think they'd definitely do best to tell totally new stories with some of the girls they didn't do last time. There are a whole bunch more from some of the other games who haven't appeared yet, or haven't had their own arcs. Someone posted a pic showing loads of them a few pages back IIRC.

Since everyone has their own favourite characters, picking just a few from the original series, or sticking with just one of them, would be guaranteed to piss of at least some fans. Go with new characters, and they avoid having people go "why did they choose Sae!? She's boring, I'm not watching this!"

I pretty much agree with this. The first series was far too corny and idealistic (for want of a better word). That was kind of what gave it it's charm, but it was really annoying. I actually quite liked the omnibus format, but it would probably have been improved if they dropped one or two of the characters and gave the rest more screentime.

I wonder if any of the games have English translations? I'm curious to know if they had the same issues, or if it was just the anime.

The problem with Amagami is this.. Too many **** characters. There is no reason what so ever for this guy to pull 6 or so girls. And if we all recall the stalker episode from the anime, all 6 girls were interested in him..

If they add a new cast and scrap the old girls, I will bash my head into a wall.. I don't want to see the 4 episode bs that always results in the girl falling in love with that guy.

I just hope they give the 6 girls the episodes because some of the arcs would have been so much better if more time was given. Mainly Rihoko's because it just felt so incomplete.

I'm pretty sure this would be a good concept for a game. Give a guy 6 or so girls and let him pursue whoever he wants. But for an anime, it's just too many characters to give a happy ending; and they even cut out quite a few from what I've heard.

Different paths, or arcs. If you played a visual novel then you know what I mean.

I enjoyed Amagami SS 1st season very much. I'm looking forward to more girls in the 2nd season.

Sooo

The second season didn't even start and there is already bashing on it ?
I suggest talking about the first season in it's appropriate topic thread instead of here.

I personally am a little excited but it's not on the top f my list.

If you actually read what I wrote, you'd know I wasn't bashing on it. I was just having a discussion with Maxis2K about some of the negative things. If I didn't like the first season, I wouldn't have posted here, people can criticize the things they like... Considering it was only 4 posts between the two of us, I hardly call that hijacking a topic, besides discussing the previous season to an upcoming anime isn't really that off topic.

Well I'm done talking bad about the 1st season. I just wanted to say I hope that the 2nd is just arc continuation. I'll be back in this thread in a couple of months tehehe

I think it would work if they only had 3 or 4 girls instead of 6, and gave each of them more screentime - 8 or 6 episodes each. I agree that 4 episodes isn't really enough to develop the characters or story properly.

And Havok, there's nothing wrong with discussing what we think the problems with the first season were. There's not really much to say about season 2 at the moment, except for what things we hope they'll change from season 1.

Havoc, shut up.

I agree that the arcs of the first season were too short. There just wasn't enough time to flesh out the relationships fully. I still enjoyed it though regardless. I'm hoping S2 is 2 more continuing episodes for each of the girls! If it's just a rehash of their relationships or new girls entirely (2 episodes each for 6 new girls? Ack! 4 episodes for 3 new ones might be okay though...), I will not be happy.

Has it actually been confirmed that it'll only be 12 episodes long? If so, then I suppose continuing the original arcs is the way to go (though don't really know if they'll be able to tell any particularly good stories in such short timeslots if it's 2 episodes per girl). I assumed it would be 24 episodes again though, in which case new characters would be better.

According to the official website, the second season of Amagami SS titled "Amagami SS+ plus" was announced to be aired from January 2012. Each of the six heroines will be featured in a two-episode chapter in an omnibus format and the direct sequels to the first season will be animated.

There we go.

I wouldnt really expect much from the sequel. For all we know, it might just end up as an alternative retelling of the series with additional scenes from the Bluray added since the main heroines have all been covered. So while it is good to take note of the new season, I think we should turn our eyes more on the other new animes that are coming out.

First episode is pretty good.

People that didn't watch the first season will be lost a bit I suppose as it picks up nearly directly from events in each girls end.

They picked the girls that didn't have a clear ending, which explains why the season 1 didn't have much of a clear ending at all.

On first episode events though, pretty good pace.
