i was thinking about getting the razor megalodon but there were lots of negative reviews on it $:-\$
could some1 tell me wats a good headset for gaming, music and anime.
also they must be comfortable as ill be having them on for hours
budget= $150

Thermaltake Shock spin [62$ newegg] i got this one about a month ago, its soooo comfortable that i`d wear it the whole day and forget i`m wearing them at all, once stood from my chair and got the plug pulled out of the socket, heh, no damage done. sound quality wise, its clarity is really good, the bass on the other hand is enough but not boomy, the loudness of the headset is just right, but not loud. the reason i bought this over the others is that the shop had it for 25% off.

the rest that some people recommended to me:
RAZER Piranha [60$ newegg]
RAZER Carcharias [80$ newegg]
Sennheiser HD428 [60$ newegg]
Sennheiser HD448 [130$ newegg]
Sennheiser HD518 [180$ newegg]

the sennheiser were way off my budget... the HD428 wasn't on the vendor's list, would've bought that if it was available...
the last sennheiser is an audiophile headphone.
i`m not a fan of USB based headset, wouldn't be able to use it on my MP3.

Gaming headphones are pure shit, don't ever waste your money on them.

Get a pair of Audio Technica ATH-AD700 and a desktop or clip-on microphone if you need it.

If you can spend a little more then get the Ultrasone HiFi 580.

like i said, i got it for 25% off, thats about 45$ worth. the others @ below 50$ are local brands that i havent even heard of.
ah, including the discount for using cash[10% off] instead of credit card, i got it for 40$ worth.

any brand/models in mind? i`ll look them up if they exist on nearby vendors/shops. i dont like shipping stuffs, fcking shipping fees and tax are expensive.

As others have mentioned. Get a mic that isn't connected to your headphone (this way you still have it when the headphones breaks). Then get headphones that you actually like the form of once you have tried them on (make sure they are at least decent, though most dedicated headphones are good).

Senn555 are great for regular sounds and whatnot, super lacking for bass (which makes a pretty big difference in the sounds of explosions and guns). My Senn 280pro are great on bass but not as great on the regulars.

Audio Technicas have pretty decent bass.

But if you really must demand a gaming headset, I've never looked at Razer. I've always looked at Sennheiser or Steelseries. But I've always ended up with a good set of tin cans instead.

the soundcard ive found makes more of a difference when using my sennheiser 555s if you have a nice sound card you hear EVERYTHING or at least you could back when FPS games were made so you could hear footsteps from across the map game sounds in like the current cods is garbage

I use a Turtle Beach headset. Probably one of the best, if you've got the money.

turtle beach headsets arent anywhere near the best when compared to actual headphones produced by companies that make headphones and such as their entire business

You would get much better sound if you were using an amp with the Sen 555.

what i think, is that, the difference between a decent headset against a quality headset depends on individual people, plus the actual sound difference isn't that drastic compared to the price(decent headsets are at 40-80$ while quality headsets are at 100-400$ [lets skip the discounts and sales for now]).

sometimes you even hit a jackpot like i did, bought a 10$ worth headset and it was comparable to a 60$. sadly the 10$ broke after 14months of usage, maybe that was the cons, heh.

if you get used to your headsets enough, you`ll find it good, unless the headset itself is trash(sounding like a can, literally).

ps: if you got a blown eardrum, no need for a quality headset, a hearing-aid would be a better pick.

You have that the wrong way around, Sennheiser have a characteristic "warm" sound whereas Audio Technicas are quite lacking in that department however have a much wider sound stage.

There is only a small benefit in using a proper dac+amp setup with the 555s.

For $150 your 3 best options are 555/595/AD700
555/595 are not as good as the AD700 for gaming but are a better all rounder so if you listen to music while gaming or watch movies while using headphones then this is a better choice.
AD700 are better than the 555/595 for gaming but lack the "warmth" of the sennheisers so are not quite as good all round, it's more down to taste with these phones.

I'm not to picky about my headset - just want it to sound decent and not break the bank. I use a Logitech H530 USB Connector Circumaural Headset

Picked it up about 9 months ago just before WoW:Cata was released for chatting on Vent & Skype. Used it the weekend Cata came out for 6-7 stretches and it was fairly comfortable. At first it squished my head a bit but after the first day it was fine. Just need to stretch out to fit my big head I guess.

Seems pretty durable and the cord is nice and long. Sound quality is good - but I'm no audiophile

. and people say the mic is very clear and I sound good on vent/skype. Volume controls and a mic mute are right on the side of the head set which is nice. Little red light comes on at the end of the mic to let you know its muted. Only complaints about it are: you can't change the side the mic is on - only swivels down one way so it has to be on your left. And the volume control doesn't change the volume for just the head set it actually changes the system master volume. But I think those are fairly minor issues at least for me they are.

i`m seeing a lot ppl using [Beats Monster] now a days... anyone tried it? theres a couple of fake ones on some sidewalk vendors for less than 10$...

edit: ah... i was talking about the fake ones if anyone tried them, them being less than 10$... well it looks good so why not?

Comparable to the HD 555 and ATH-M50 for twice the price or more for the Studios or better if you want absurdly more bass. The Solos are terrible. Active noise cancelling is nice and the humming is not as noticeable. Fakes are well, fake. Fanny Wang makes slightly better Beats, but I've never checked them out or heard from them. I would try the Soul by Ludacris for slightly less bass and a different look. Active noise cancelling should be on par. I'll also admit they're very very comfortable from the get go.

I'm looking for a good desktop microphone but I'm not really in that much of a hurry. I just want to hear what my voice sounds like to other people, since you don't hear what your voice truly sounds like unless you hear it from a microphone.
