Need help on this...anyone wanna share their thoughts?

the TVs are:

http://www.sony-asia.com/product/klv-32cx320

I wonder if this "Bravia Engine 3" is capable of playing 1080p mkvs.

vuzedome:
You won't be getting subtitle support for mkvs from the regza, same goes for the sony.
But from the manual it says regza's will do external srt so you can try that.
Any mkv video specs that follow hardware acceleration playback parameters should run fine, or in simpler terms videos adhering to scene rules.

Freedom Kira:
I've tried playback on a Samsung LED. The interface is kinda laggy but it plays 1080p mkv quite well. It doesn't seem to like softsubs, though. You'd better throw some sample files on a USB stick and head into your local electronics store to try it out.

halfelite:
it will play basic mkv files of 1080p make sure specs are profile 5.1 and 5 ref frames or lower. So rule out a lot of anime releases if that is what you are looking to play with it.

mgz:
and no styled subs
