The best storyline in game history?

Osmo, I have to say none of the titles in your OP has struck me as having good storylines.

I second the Planescape Torment and Arcanum. :)

Also the best game history without use of cinematics: Half Life.

I think they got awesome story lines. I don't know why you think that.

In the games you mention the story is being told in a good way, but the story itself is unoriginal. For example we have Mass Effect: the story being conveyed to the player really well, but the story itself is "save the galaxy from a great enemy".

I agree w/ the FFVII and KOTOR votes.

I also really enjoyed Mass Effect like the OP, but I agree with the above post.  The immersion factor was fantastic, but the story isn't anything new or shiny.
