Thanks for the necro & the heads' up! Grabbed the [Whynot], but [Underwater] and [Horrible] are up, too, with a couple more.

Took the opportunity to re-watch the Black★Rock Shooter OVA. Then I moved directly to the TV Ep. 01. I am impress. It's remained abstract and action-filled. Had several moments of "Shades of Holy Paprika!" doing a little mind/dream diving, it seems.

Didn't know what to expect. Thought at first they might pick up Ep. 01 as if it was Ep. 02 following the OVA. Wish they had ... but it's getting a slight re-write & re-telling for TV. Might be a good thing, adding some new characters & depth. If they pick it up on about Ep. 03 where the OVA ended, that could bode very well for the remainder. Soundtrack remains great, so looking forward to a larger music collection with some tasty new tracks.

Only complaint so far is that Takanashi has been redrawn into a different style & character. Liked her look and her volleyball athletic edge from the OVA more. But, we'll see how it pans out as the series airs.

Just finished first ep.
The OVA was quite vague but it all starts to make sense now, looks like this is going to be one hell of a show.

Also, you have all episodes titles in the ED song lyrics.

the thing about the ova is that it was just an ova. . .I dont think they had time to try to confuse you at any time. . .they had to say as much as possible

I thought the OVA was better, but that was an OVA and this is a single TV episode, so the comparison isn't really valid.

I felt the Black Rock Shooter scenes were really quite brutal compared to the OVA. How are they related to the anime timeline-wise? I read somewhere that for the OVA they actually occurred after Mato met Shooter. In this episode it seemed like they corresponded (the spider thing dropping macaroons onto Shooter) but I don't see why Dead Master showed up at the end if it's supposed to be analogous.

Considering the OVA is garbage thats saying a lot, might as well just wait till this ends before looking at it.

The first episode was confusing, but it's a series it's allowed to be that way. It'll probably explain itself soon, since it's only 8 episodes. I loved the first episode, I don't know why some of you guys didn't. The opening action sequence with Black Rock Shooter was amazing, and if the series has more scenes like it that alone will make it worth watching.

You can't really put a lot into 20 minutes, but both OVA and this first episode had placed a lot of flags and a lot of premise. You should be able to notice that this story might be very psychological in nature, Action from BRS and stuff like that will be there probably but it's not the main point.

I think it made perfect sense other than the character redesign of Takanashi, but that isn't a huge deal. Loving it so far.

I thought the OVA was just decent, and a bit hard to follow (took 2 views before I really got it). I think everybody knew that this was just WAITING to be announced. I mean there was no way so much franchising would be done for a single OVA. I hope that they don't just totally drop the slice of life aspect like some seem to want. If they still have both the school story and BRS action story going on at the same time, but give far more attention to the action than the OVA did then this thing could be

The first episode was a well deserved 2/10 for me. The character interaction was crap, the introduction of each character was crap. The motives and reasoning were crap.

Not to mention the plot hole or SUPER ambiguous muck up I found.

Has anyone noticed that the regular characters pupils kinda look like gears? Hints that maybe only select people have the power to....do something. At this stage it's hard to draw any conclusions.

From a bit more distance all eyes look the same, only on close ups you see the "gears" and pretty much all characters that had close ups so far had them, minor characters or main, without exception.

Nobody Ep. 02 yet ..?

Grabbed the Whynot offer from Nyaa last night. I'm getting more impressed. Seems there is some heart in it. Action ... when there's action ... remains intense. Interesting reveals on our psycho wheelchair girl. I'm thinking "case solved" on this breakthrough and Ep. 03 will start a new mini-arc. The OP certainly indicates more characters arriving, which is going to have to be rapid if there's really only 8 Eps.

The counselor has my interest. Some of the things she says, the wording of it, leads me to suspect she knows a lot more about what's going on. Some of her advice is wrong, unless she knows something more.

Nothing mind-ripping epic yet, but the "dream"-conflict scenes are pretty, psychedelic horror shows. Still reminds me strongly of Paprika with the unhinged symbolism of a mentally unhealthy dream world.

I'm waiting for a release with less shit impersonating a translation thank you. I watched AsukaSubs releases before, just for comparison. I would avoid them.

Great episode, it explained a lot more than I expected. This series will only cover what was in the Ova and probably won't move forward much. Loved what Kuroi said in the hospital and how Yomi behaved there. It was excellent.

Another great episode, now I know almost everything that's going on, all I need now is motive.
