Seiyuu you look forward to so much
« on: August 23, 2011, 11:13:28 AM »
So I recently marathoned Cromartie Highscool english dubbed, yes it was admittedly crap but they still
managed to pull off the jokes. Kinda sucks how 99% of the cast DO NOT fit the characters they were voicing though.
the only one who fit was that afro guy. however overall it was bearable, but I always go back to jap dub whenever
Mechazawa (Norio Wakamoto) appears . he sounds like a homo in english. The only good dubs i've ever encountered
[ EDIT ] are Ergo Proxy, Samurai Champloo, and Black Lagoon. (sorry, i got Candlejack'ed)

So are there any seiyuu's you look forward to so much you'd do the above?
watching an anime just because Rie Kugimiya's in it counts too.

yes, i know this sounds like this thread.
i'd revive it but i figured people would reply to the older posts instead. so here.

Aya Hirano... yes.

Shes the best. I didnt even realize at first that both Lucy in FT and Suzumiya Haruh were the same seiyuu, I was just thinking that they were some of the best voiced characters Id ever heard. Then I happened across that they were both Aya. Shes just so hilarious, no one else could have done a better Lucy or Suzumiya.

I also didn't realize Kuchiki Rukia from bleach and Seras Victoria from the hellsing OVA were the same, I just like both voices a lot. But once I noticed it, it became so obvious. I love the way Fumiko Orikasa does comical screams, shes like AIIIEEEE!!

Also Nakamura Yuuichi (my quoted posters namesake from clannad :) & ore no imouto) and Sugita Tomokazu (kyou from suzumiya haruhi) are favorites, so hilarious.

^ there are actually lots of seiyuu you'd recognize immediately.
there are also those with a pretty good range and can voice multiple characters in one anime without sounding the same.

wonder if there are males voicing female characters though. also, this badass cast. (go straight to "hey, it's that voice!")
I will now hunt down animes they are in.

Wakamoto Norio, you know, the guy who voiced Charles Brittania in Code Geass. He is awesome

Are you deaf as well as blind, woman? I'm not a carpet to walk over and I
distinctly heard myself speak. If I pinch your bottom, you can slap my face, but until I do, I expect a civil word for a civil word!

There are a few really good VAs, but I dont look forward to them.... except Rie Kugimiya, URASAI URASAI URASAI
But no really, VAs are the last thing I look at and I often feel that they try to promote shitty shows just by having a big VA. Fuck that.
Also- Welcome to the English boards. We call them Voice Actors. Darn weaboos

That is not to say I dont recognize VAs and appreciate it, but a VA does NOT make the show.

heh, so i'm probably the only one of the few who watch anime for the VA involved huh...
some people probably watch movies just because megan fox is in it regardless of quality.

i don't watch because of the seiyuu, but it certainly adds to the appeal. oh, and i totally love Yuu Asakawa, even though she isn't all that well known. (she voiced Azumanga's Sakaki and is Megurine Luka's voice model).

oh, and Romi Park.

You stole my answer >:(

I just love her tsundere voice. So awesome. I've also gotta give a shout out to Tamura Yukari who voices Rika Furude from Higurashi and Kurihara from Sketchbook (just to name a couple). I love her musky voice that she uses with Kurihara and Chihaya (Asu no Yoichi).

I'm also a bit of a Horie Yui and Kitamura Eri fan. Unfortunately, I'm not really a fan of any male voice actors. However, I do enjoy some of Majima Junji's voices (Aoki Daisuke - Kodomo no Jikan, Tukasa Ryuuji - Toradora).

Now that I think about, 4/5 of the voice actors I've mentioned had major roles in Toradora :S

Am I the only one that hates Rie Kugimiya ? She is doing the same damn character over and over, cant stand watching most shows with her in it =P

One of my favorite is probably Sugita Tomokazu, I like most of the stuff he does
Dont know what to put here

I think it's her higher-up's making her do that. she can voice non-tsundere's after all.
or maybe you can blame the fandom for liking her tsundere portrayals and hence having her
requested to do those roles, but either way. i agree, it gets old. big time.

lol. shame she's no longer a VA though. or so i heard.

lol @ kugimiya part.

also, i've noticed that despite liking a lot of male, hammy seiyuu's myself i only remember them by their character played. :(
like Viral (Nobuyuki Hiyama), Gilgamesh (Tomokazu Seki) or DMC Dante (Toshiyuki Morikawa)
*yes, i had to look them up.

Yuu seems to be cast in minor roles a lot. also, romi voicing boys mostly, wtf.
makes me wonder if there's a male seiyuu who voices a feminine female character...

Kyrdua, you're not the only one that watches anime only because of the Seiyuus.  I do that too.  It's one of the two reasons that I'm enjoying watching Seikon no Qwaser...

Oh my friggin' god, Koumajou Densetsu o.O
I played both games recently.  They were epic and more games should be made.

Seiyuus I like in no particular order:
Nana Mizuki (Fate Testarossa FTW)
Yukari Tamura (Nanoha Takamachi)
Yuu Asakawa (Megurine Luka, Priss Asajiri)
Ayako Kawasumi (Lafiel <3)
Aya Hirano (only because she can act)
Houko Kuwashima (What happened to her?  D: )
Every single one of the VAs in Koumajou Densetsu

There are more but I can't be bothered hunting 'em down.  xD

I cannot believe I almost forgot!!

Omigawa Chiaki, she hasn't been in all that much yet, she was Maka in Soul Eater. I thought her voice was awesome from the first ep, and especially loved it while shes laughing like a lunatic in certain scenes. Can't wait to see more stuff with her.

Sry. no, I don't do that xD ..or we could say I do that xD
-for every character in the series, main or supportive

Jap dubs only sound better over 90% of time and the english voice actors very rarely fit for the character.  And yk, when you watch enuf anime, you get this feeling very often
''oh, this voice actor played 'this' in that series and 'that' role in this series''
I get that feeling very often. So it has been and so it will be.

But I do have My favourite Voice Actors :P
Rie Kugimiya
Kikuko Inoue
and
Jouji Nakata

yah, 2 women and one male :P but you gotta love the roles Nakata pulled/pulls in Hellsing Ultimate and Dai Mahou Touge ;D

hell yeah, and lol @ example. I didn't expect it to be seikon no qwaser. ;D

also, yeah. koumajou densetsu IS epic. what's more epic for me though is the fact that they got a hold of those seiyuu's in the first place.
also, the awesome (albeit "consistent") art.

DAMN, a lot of unexpectedly "heard of" VA's in that list. they seem to really sound different on each role, as i've seen multiple
anime's they're on and not recognize the voices.

yeah, she's pretty good too, unique voice. though my favorite role from her is Mutsumi of Seitokai Yakuindomo.

also, nearly forgot about cool girl Toyoguchi Megumi. Revy/Chifuyu-nee <3~

* Kyrdua sees Miranda Lotto in the list...

...

you've gotta be--

ya know. isn't it the same the same about iconic actors in live action jap or not?

None. I don't hype Seiyuus, there are more important things in anime.
