I did try to search for a thread like this, but the search only brought me people bitching about neckbeards.

Anyway, as per the title, how do you lot view beards?

Personally I am for them, as long as they are kept well and don't end up being like

they allow for an added bit of character. During the last cold season, I used to sport a small anchor beard, thinking of regrowing it once more.

Nay for the most part. There's only a few people I know who can pull a beard off.

Otherwise, well, let's just say that if you saw me with a beard, you could pull it off.

(Now if I had a furred beany, the right specs,
and a white robe with blue stripes,
I might try growing a beard...
though I'd have to dye it brown)

And for others, no opinion one way or the other.
Colleagues often grow them some times, sometimes shave them off, usually to just try something different for a while.
I get the impression that wives generally don't care for them. They can make intimacy quite uncomfortable.

If you want to sing the Lumberjack Song properly, though, you definitely need a beard!

Neckbeards suck. I'd get a neckbeard if I don't shave, but I currently maintain a short goatee and 'stache, almost exactly like this:

Until 6 months ago (till I was in school) I had the same sort as xyx has in that photo up there, but a bit shorter

I currently have a very short cropped goatee surrounded by a "5 O'Clock shadow."
I don't like how I look clean shaven. The only part I shave often is my neck.

On the beard /facial hair topic; Chin straps are the dumbest type of facial hair ever, IMO.

I prefer not to have a beard, although I tend to not shave for a few days at a time if I'm not going anywhere, similar to what I look like in my avvy.

Once my 'beard' gets to a certain point though, I shave it off otherwise the itching starts to drive me nuts.

The 'stach on the other hand takes a little looking after and without it I look *much* younger than I actually am, so I plan on keeping it around.

I hate beards, reason being when my boyfriend use to kiss me his beard would always prick me. So...I made him shave it:).

Plus I hate how it looks for some people and if their beard is really long couldn't food get stuck in their beard o_O?

No, for the vast majority of people I'd say nay.

But I do find beards better in general than a 'stache, I really think they're hideous.

Yup, tru dat.
A beard doesn't even have to be that long to 'catch' food.

I did have a beard once upon a time, I was forever combing little bits of 'left overs' out of it right after a meal.
Spaghetti was usually the worst.

A 'stache can require some dexterity also.

If I let it go without a trim for too long, I can literally end up 'eating' my 'stache.
Mostly though, it just ends up soggy from getting wet from whatever I'm drinking being strained through it.

Well kept beard is cool, but it is rare to find one like that.
I say Aye! if it's kept well, I say NAY! if it's ugly.
