Nay for the most part. There's only a few people I know who can pull a beard off.
Me being one? :D

Plus I hate how it looks for some people and if their beard is really long couldn't food get stuck in their beard o_O?
Eating requires mad skills if you've got a beard.  ;D
I has them.  8)

Let's just say, that if I didn't have a beard, I'd have a tattoo.
You can figure my opinion from that if you're good enough.

Because we can!

I can't remember what your beard looks like, sorry!

My friend Met pulls off a beard quite well, although he is overly hairy in general.

I only have a scraggly little thing on my chin. Sadly it cannot be seen on camera unless you are taking a pic from a foot or less in front of me.

I've had a full beard for 3 or 4 years now.  I trim it daily, fairly closely.  It's nice only having to shave my neck, and that only once or twice a week.

If I thought I could grow a handlebar mustache or a fu-manchu I would totally do it, but I don't think my facial hair will cooperate willingly.  That, or the long process of growing said hair would bug the shit out of me, and I can't look too scruffy in an office work environment.
It took an hour to write; I figured it'd take an hour to read.

I personally don't care whether people try to grow beards or not because it's their decision, though its obvious to tell who can truly maintain a beard well. As for me, even though I'm almost 21, I still don't think I have enough facial hair to even grow a full beard, not that I would even want one myself.

beards are awesome. you'll need a turban and a flute or any tube-like object for full effect though.

Goats rule!  ;D

Actually, each individual face & personality determine if and what works.  I started out with a 'stache when I was about 17, rarely ever shaved it off but always kept it well-trimmed.  About the time I turned 30 I grew out a goat and have never been without it since.  Except for the couple of times when I grew the whole mess out, which usually lasts about six or eight months during the Winter.  Always shaved it back to goat again around April-ish.  My skin is pretty sensitive, so I generally shave about three times a week, but you can hardly tell on my skip-days.

The mark of a true man is someone who maintains and shaves with straight razors.  My girlfriends have always been impressed, especially when I shave them with one.  Good fun for all involved.   ;)  I did have a fine collection of old and rare blades, abandoned now overseas.  Recently found a few in a farmer's market and intend to get proper stones & strop to renovate those again.  Hopefully soon ... not happy with a regular double or triple edge.
I win, once again, in my never-ending struggle against victory.

A straight razor?  That's not a knife.

*pulls out katana*

This is a knife!

I remember figuring out how to shave with a straight razor when I was in the infantry reserves.
I always got carried away, trying to eliminate every sign of a bristle or rough spot,
and came away looking like I'd just been attacked by a psycho killer.
I never figured out when to quit before I was a bloody mess.

So, here's to you, datora!  You're keeping a fine old art alive!

Precisely why I do it ... or, about 60% of the reason.  The other 40% is that it's actually a far kinder shave on my skin.

And, nothing gives you focus in the morning quite like picking that blade up and r*e*s*p*c*t*i*n*g that edge.  Had only two serious mistakes (so far) *toucheswood*  You can never slide the blade or rotate it so that the edge moves parallel to itself ... always move perpendicular.  Had a slice on my right jaw line from that, the scar took three years to grow out.

The other time I was stropping the blade on a bit of heavy horse-tackle.  Was not quite awake.  When I noticed there was no resistance.  Looked down to see I'd cut right through 1/4" of leather 3" wide ... razor passed through it like it was air.  The cut surfaces reflected light like a mirror.

Never lost my focus again after that ,,,back about 1993 or so.  I kept the short piece in my shaving kit as a reminder, every single morning.

And, BtW, any n00bs want to get into it ... I recommend it.  Fun hobby.  It really is an art.  But, Do It Right.  There's a bit to learn.  And, the first time someone suggested I shave them, I refused until I had shaved myself for one full year without a single nick.  It was worth the wait to make sure there was no mistake.

I can grow a better beard than my friends who have patchy growth.

However, my facial hair type isn't rough enough to grow a proper beard without looking like a wonky homeless guy.

Yeah, using a straight razor is an art.

I found early on that using an electric razor gave me razor burn like you wouldn't believe.

These days I use a fairly ordinary Mach 3 razor, no electric razor for me.

I have no issues with an electric razor.

Mach3/straight razor bothers me only because I need shaving cream to use properly. I'm lazy. I'd probably want to learn straight razor over using disposables though.

Yep, I need to use shaving cream when I shave.

The Mach 3 I use is a semi disposable, you only change the shaving 'head' not the handle, which is actually made from decent quality material.

You guys are more than welcome to your straight razors; I'm lazy, clumsy, and paranoid about cutting myself.  The nice thing about having a beard is that it only takes a minute or two to trim it in the morning and there's no chance of slicing yourself like a tomato.

Not to bad in a half year, when i recently became 20 ;D
