Warning to those who bougyt Deus ex 3 from Gamestop

WHy do BD's include a digital copy? Who knows. As i fucking said several times, the point is that they're just taking things out of a brand new item without your consent or knowlege. Thats bullshit. What if Safeway opened up all the cereal boxes and took out the prizes inside? That would be pretty weak, and im sure people wouldn't stand for it. Yeesh man, dunno what your problem is, im just alerting people who may actually care about it. Gamestop has a pretty poor reputiation and this is just the latest shady ass thing they've been called out on. I also llike how in a later post you say you dont care about this and then imediatly say that if they DID do it with a star wars game you would be pissed. The point is a precedence has been established and people should be weary buying things from them. Check your shit when you get it

Gamestop already openes up 'new' games and sells them to you at full retail price. Covered with stickers, possibly missing the manual, ect. Now theyre opening them and removing things. yay

Are you a law student? Do you know if, legally speaking, it really is in their right to remove the promotion without telling the people they are selling it to?  If not you shouldn't make baseless asumptions like that. Im not sure if you can sell an item as brand new after youve opened and removed items and content from it. But hell, they do it with display copies all the time so who knows. Turning what you said around, if i buy a retail copy of something brand new, i should be entitled to get everything that a brand new copy of that game should come with.


anyway, as Newy said final outcome was they just pulled the games altogether. HOnestly i pretty much never buy anything from Gamestop anymore anyway, unless its older DS or ps2 games used

I'll tell you why it's different with SWTOR. SWTOR is a more important game than Deus Ex... simply put. The only thing that Gamestop removed was a code to get a digital copy. For which Gamestop apologized and is now giving away $50 instore credit along with a Buy 2 get 1 free coupon. If I was really affected by this silly misunderstanding... I would be getting a free game out of it AND have that nice coupon for later use. And seriously, who was going to use the OnLive digital copy anyways. I got a registration code in my Deus Ex copy of the game and I used it to blow my nose the other day... so it's not like it's important (cause I have a physical copy!).

Yes, Gamestop opens new copies of the game and sell them as new. Opening a game does not ruin it or anything. It's not like it's now tainted as the display copy. It's still an unused disc that doesn't have scratches or anything (and if it DOES, Gamestop has a policy that you can return the game and get a different copy of the game, new and used). And if you are really particular about the boxes being prestine and "new"... well... get something else that will cure your ADD.

I mean seriously, people are getting really mad over a little thing. "OMG, this copy of this game is opened!" Well, if you don't want an opened game, go buy it from somewhere else. You only need to put $5 on a game (for people who put down the full amount, you are DUMB... they don't let you get that money back)... if you are unsatisfied with your product.. you don't have to buy it from Gamestop. The difference between Deus Ex and SWTOR is that I preordered my copy so that I'll be ABLE to get a copy on day one. I don't think Deus Ex will have a problem with limited number of game copies... but SWTOR will. That's why an Opened SWTOR box will get me more pissed than an opened Deus Ex box.

Will this affect Gamestop's main client base (which is console based gaming)? Probably not. I don't even understand why people are still buying box copies of PC games unless they are high profile (like SWTOR).

Square apologized for adding the coupon without letting Gamestop know

and

Gamestop has offered 50$ gift card + buy 2 get 1 coupons to those who purchased the game on PC during the time period.

I still think it's a little whack, but thats what you get for shopping at Gamestop? lol.

Used games are usually much cheaper, and stores mark down games .

In contrast, removing anything from the original product and selling it at the same price should be marked as illegal. If the original package had also the Digital code, it means it was part of the product. Removing that is taking away your (presumably) bought property. the price should be lowered by half of the original price since the digital copy warrants you access to the same product of the same value.

Technically, what they did is theft.
