Hmm maybe one should only watch anime at night and rate it on how it effects ones sleep. Ones that are exciting enough to make you stay awake vs relaxing ones that put you to sleep quickly vs annoying ones that make you rage and skip forward (thus keeping you awake).

I will agree with others, one needs to do something interesting in order to not fall asleep. Though even that fails around the 70h mark, not even sitting up in a chair while doing something that normally requires a lot of concentration really works at that point (only done this twice, wasn't worth it). (Though there is that documented case of a person not needing any sleep at all with no real ill effects.)

So as a gamer/anime fan i tend to stay up late watching anime playing games very late maybe 3 AM, that even happens when i got something important in the morning after.

My question is when you stay up getting caught up in some game/anime/w/e what do you do to stay up even longer?

Maybe this is just me but if i gotta get up at 7 AM and i havent gone to bed at 3 i realise that i will be completely incapable of getting up at 7 so i stay up and get through the coming day without sleep.

What makes me keep it together in this case is Techno, not really much of a listener to the genre but i have noticed how it can keep you awake no matter how tired you are.

i`d sleep while my eyes are wide open~ day dreaming was it? :P

ok, on a serious note, sugar, anything sweet. coffee seems to put me to sleep...

I think that was a lie.

Hmm. If I have more than 4 hours of sleep, I tend to last the day at a near average level of competence with a shot of caffeine. If I don't get 4 hours of sleep, I either call in sick or If I only have a single lecture or the like, brute force myself through it and rush back to the bed.

Having said that, during the work/academic year. My sleep pattern tends to be VERY regulated that basically ensures me getting between seven to eight hours of sleep a night. While I can jump the gun on a few days a month, it's hardly what I wish to do. Stuff just happens more nicely or I get over some annoying shit just so much easier when I'm rested.

Moreover, I don't really do intensive stuff after a hard days of work. If I do watch anime before going to bed, it's going to be something like Aria or Hidamari sketch, or dragon ball. Something that I can just turn off and enjoy. Most of the stuff I do either professionally or as a hobby requires a fair amount of constant concentration and my brain just overloads. That's about why I avoid artsy films and the like like the plague.

Hmm, my body doesn't go to sleep if I lie on my back, during the last few years, if I wanted to force myself to stay awake all I had to do was lie on my back. However, I never forced it to the extremes you lot do, 70 hours? Fuck that. I can't remember ever going past 50.

You need to go to more LANs. :p I One LAN had heavy bass and music that I couldn't fall asleep to. The other one was just me and another dude egging each other on, playing together and so on. I sleep at them now a days, it simply isn't as much fun after 40 h or so of being awake.

I dunno how anybody can stay awake for 70 hours, especially sat at a pc...when i had my 21st birthday, i got up Friday morning and didn't go to sleep till around Sunday mid-day ( fell asleep on my friends floor  ;D ), and that was with the aid of lots of beer and amphetamines

Studying. Seriously. I'm a hardcore procrastinator and I only do my homework/projects/studying 24 hours before an exam/the day it's due. Funny...I seem to get better results like this.

The idea with studying normally is that you have a better baseline. Then if when the exam nears you still do the same crunch time you get a better result due to more time spent on it.

I found my body started to give out around the 64 hour mark. I spent an entire night doing coursework, then after classes prepared to go out to my friends all night birthday party, and my then gf was annoyed she hadn't seen me the past couple of nights so on night three I ended up at her place. I kept dozing off and awaking to say the most bizzare things. After 30 mins of me struggling to keep awake she told me to gtfo.

64 hours. Never again. I can survive on MINIMAL sleep for a decent amount of time, but NO sleep? :/

Longest gaming session I did was when WOTLK came out.

Played from midnight launch all the way to 8am-ish the day after (so... 30 hours or so?)  Went from level 55 - 68 and logged off as the highest DK on the server at that time, by quite a few levels ^_^  (Then I had to werk :()

What kept me up was anime playing on the TV next to me, my brother playing on the bed behind me (also leveling) and Mountain Dew / Chipz / snacks / stuffs.

Yeah... I don't play WoW anymore :P

(and I DON'T weigh a billion pounds like the south park episode :P)

Oh, loud music/consistent noise.

Otherwise, you hear electronics noises and that "weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeee" ringing sound in your ears. If bored enough but not sleeping, you look like you're catatonic.
This is your home now. So take advantage of everything here, except me.

What's keeping me up? the internets.
and the fact that I have to work with people half-globe away sometimes, so 'time zones' are keeping me up too.
the fact that beer and parties were invented is also a good reason for me to be up.

If I need to stay up to fix my sleep, I usually do something that requires visual attention. Play video games, play something online, read manga (plain text novels and such will put me to sleep), watch a good anime (I find that drama keeps me up more than action, oddly enough), do some chores, etc.

In Italy we use to Call it "After-hour"(), staying awake all night with friends was one of the greatest, too much Fun partying around the city all night, the night never sleeps and all you need to keep awake its a brain amplifier (Mental Energy increasing and connecting with others brain capability)
Its all based on how you charisma affect the mood of the party you are with, Keep Awake means Keeping doing something, being a part of the movement, and enjoying the coming Dawn till Dusk and Dusk till Dawn.

press X plus R2 to use the Brain Amplifier, get to off-license Stores to Refill your Brain Amplifier Gauge or contact Otacon through Codec to find a solution for the upcoming Problem, in case of fatal anomaly or a stuck position quickly surrender To a night sleeping session till the suns up, where you can recharge with the solar ray emission produced by the infamous SMURFS Tribe.

You will eventually wake up if the next day as a bit of importance towards your spiritual well-being, and you will engage a new fight to survive the ticking Clock (The Ultimate Boss of this Epic Story)

Still enjoying The Night
