I am glad Manglobe has worked on the Animation for the movie. I have no idea who will Animate the Third Season thou' ... The movie will feature lots of bikini scenes and well ... you might expect some pantsu scenes, too!

Since there is no other thread about the first movie of Hayate no Gotoku: Heaven is a Place on Earth, I've decided to combine both in this thread.

Forgot to mention one last thing, pretty much its a fact in the Hayate series - Nagi > All the females in this series. <3 Nagi!

Too bad no dates. I have to watch both S1 AND S2 before I get around to this one though. That will take a --lot-- of time. Considering I'll have a lot on my hands from September onwards too... Sigh

Technically you should watch S2 and then S1 I think, as S2 follows the manga while S1 is original on majority.

Wrong.

You watch Season 1 first, then the OVA, then Season 2. The Movie would be the next thing to watch (it's in Theaters in Japan at the moment) and Third Season afterwards.

Season 1 is the beginning of the series. The OVA is an introductory to Season 2 and Season 2 is a sequel to the story of Season 1. There are no remakes or re-writes or whatever.

Season 1 is all comedy and little seriousness here and there. But the comedy is freaking superb! Season 2 gets a little bit more serious and keeps the comedy.

Weird, I read the manga and watched both seasons and I got the feeling S1 took original route at some point.

IIRC, S1 became original material only at the halfway point, and what was left out became S2.

What's amazing about S1, though, is even though a large portion of it was original, it was still quite good.

It just didn't really progress any sort of character development, which S2 actually did to some extent.

If you START with S2, you're making a huge mistake. It will start with Hayate already a butler and you won't have any idea why.

You should start with season 1. Season 1 has the beginning, season 2 does not.

Although Yeah, S1 was pretty brilliant when it comes to comedy, but it did lack development of characters. And when it did have some, it wasn't finished, or Hayate got beaten by someone for peeping.

Wrong. Fucking wrong. Please quit confusing people around.

Season 1 is NOT Season 2. Season 1 originally starts out with introduction to all the characters and everything else is comedy. At some points, here and there, it becomes serious. Season 2 has nothing to do with Season 1. There are no remakes of any scenes, there are no re-telling stories of anything. It picks up from where the OVA leaves off - and just to let you know, the OVA picks up from where Season 1 left off.

So it's just like To Love-Ru? Season 1 then an OVA series which introduces to season 2, followed by season 2 itself? Thanks. That cleared it up. BTW, even if it was S2 before S1, character introductions would be required.

I don't mind it being a new story, but I didn't really like the art style Manglobe used for the movie, and much prefer J.C. Staff's style. I'll watch it nonetheless, though.
