Look, nearly everyone is afraid of one thing or another, uncomfortable in one situation or another. Being shy, not being the centre of a party is not a god damn disease.
I had my fair share of speeches, I've also moderated and presented stuff. Everyone has some form anxiety in anticipation of attracting attention. However, we just do it nevertheless. There isn't a sober guy who does not contemplate the possibility of rejection while trying to pick up a girl just as well as there are no politicians, who just go out in front of a group of spectators while not giving a proverbial fuck.
