Your favorite underrated games.
criver:
Magic and Mayhem, Warlords 3 (quite old but still play them), A.I.M. 1/2.
If there was a topic seriously overrated games - I'd say CS.

The X series is still alive and kicking, new installment is scheduler for this year.
As for underrated games, or ones that quickly faded away, I'd say Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines. A very good RPG game with good graphics and feel that kinda went unnoticed.
Also, Omikron: The Nomad Soul was an awesome game which linked many different genres together and was really immersive (not to mention a David Bowie soundtrack), but hadrly anyone remebers it.
Also, I wouldn't call the Total War series underrated - every game in the series was very well received and had good reviews and was a "big", highly advertised release. However, these are kinda niche games, requiring a long time investment, which the average Joe isn't prone to making, so people complete a campaign or two and forget about the game. However, despite that, the community is very much alive, even for older titles.

Guys, obscure != underrated. If a game sold less than expected but most of those who did buy it loved it, it is not underrated.
Hitman: Contracts - Between the shining praise that Silent Assassin and Bloodmoney received, this was generally considered less thrilling and too similar to Silent Assassin. So what, I say. Imo it was every bit as good as Silent Assassin and had more intricate levels to boot.
Saboteur - Don't understand why this didn't do well at all. It was fun.
Delta Force: Black Hawk Down - This was a pretty great fps, specially considering it's from 2003. Actually needed some form of strategy too (gasp). It received a lot of flak.
Prince of Persia : Forgotten Sands - I liked it, dunno about you guys. I didn't see why reviewers called it mediocre.

+1
Started playing it expecting laggy gameplay and a bad story. Turned out to be the most fun I've had playing a stealth game not named Assassin's Creed or Splinter Cell.

Prolly Vampire: Bloodlines, as mentioned a bit above. In it's time it had pretty good graphic and was one of the most original RPGs ever.
Also Divine Divinity, Beyond Divinity and Divine Divinity II. It's great and on par with RPGs which had way bigger budget, yet it was and is rather unnoticed and literally under-rated in most reviews, made me even though that some of the writers have only watched trailer.
