12 people a handle of tullamore dew whiskey a 30 pack of beer a few 6 packs of beer and a keg of beer + a lil bit of smoking
= hours of fun and entertainment including fruit ninja on xbox and card games
before having to spend the remaining night pumping out the window wells to the basement windows to stop them from flooding the basement until it stopped raining at 10am

Umm, I just watched anime until the power went out. I didn't want to play any videogame and then potentially corrupt my save files if they power suddenly went out. My basement sorta got flooded too sadly, but probably not as bad as yours did.

"Supposedly" we have a pump in our basement that's suppose to turn on when the flooding in the basement starts. The power was off, so it flooded anyways. -.-

in places where you commonly see power outage coupled with your flooding they usually suggest battery backup systems for you sump pump which helps alleviate this a bit

My hurricane party was me + a few beers + some anime + the occasional random thought of "Gee, I'm glad someone else got hit this time and not my state." 

Although actually I'm not unsympathetic, as natural disasters of any kind are no fun.  I have family in Virginia (Newports News, actually, same town where I think a young kid got crushed by a tree or something), Maryland, and in New England.  Fortunately, I think everyone I knew made it through without major hardship.
