Recommend me a game ...

Sosseres:
DS3 is pretty fun as an action RPG. It isn't the best game, well worth playing though, even did some coop in it (though full team coop gets too easy, even on highest difficulty).

Have you tried out Drakensang: The Dark Eye? I personally didn't care for it, yet it kind of fits your requirements (I also had some fun customizing in it, though it isn't all that impressive in that department).

Other random RPGs from recent years include The Last Remnant, Risen and Silverfall.

Havoc10K:
Played all to some extent, DS 3 is crap as a sequel, but I guess modernization of the technology was imminent, however even with the stuff, closing the overall spellbook and giving each character their own abilities was not a good idea, the original Dungeon Sige was great because you could literally make a party of all mages and STILL own every enemy regardless of their combat abilities or whatever they threw at you.

In DS1 I was able to make 4 tanks and make it pretty much impossible for enemies to damage any of my characters below 90% health, although getting some gear for them was nearly impossible if I wanted them to have similar HP/MP (screw the MP, HP was the only worry but after a while I could screw anything in a manner of seconds, DPS was so decent my tanks were owning everything, bosses included)

I totally forgot about Drakensang, probably the only fully customizable game in recent PC experience, it has it's terrible quirks but overall it was very impressive, unlucky for my first playthrough I wasn't very good at making some of the improvements in stats, I wanted to do some cool stuff and ended up screwing everything, so had to restart the game from start and made it very impressively. If the game had better visuals and more equipment, and also more image changing equipment, it could have been an incredibly impressive game. I noticed there are some continuations so I will try the latest expansion to see what is where and what was improved. I guess as Modern Medieval, or should I say, late Medieval which started entering some more modern civilization genre with (still) a lot of magic aspects was pretty interesting idea. I'll give the newest additions to the series to test out.

BTW, a warning though, Space Siege is full of shit, avoid like plague, or Tomoya-kun.

Garret02:
Maybe try Ultima series. Next to Planescape: Torment and Fallout, the closest PC games to classic paper RPGs.

Havoc10K:
Might try Ultima on Snes, not going to try the Ultima Online. But I preffered teh games made for PC though.

Garret02:
I meant this series. Ultima on SNES is Ultima VI or VII and Ultima Online is a spin-off.
