It isn't the problem of games evolving past the PC interface, although I have a feeling you have been fairly sarcastic about that comment, as I think it is the fault of consoles needing dumbed down interface for almost all games that come out multi platform.

Sorry, now that I read what I wrote at 4AM in the morning, I see that my posts are as retarded as jaybug's/pharismo's.

I meant that games have evolved past isometric view, not pc interface or pc itself.

Havoc10K:
Yeah, I was actually trying to convince Bethesda to try their hand at Isometric POV when making Fallout 3.

It was flat out rejected with "We never made any game in isometric, we actually suck at that kind of technique so we won't even bother"

Taking to note the level of detail in Fallout 3 with EVERYTHING ENABLED and ALL MODS IMPROVING GRAPHICS (lol at fans doing teh game developer work seriously) having the game in isometric with Aim to be Third Person, and removing the VATS AP points (total roach shit at the idea) and replacing every action requiring AP actually.

Imagine the rage from console players, would be a nice evening news with popcorn.

Developers should return to the Isometric POV seeing how detailed graphics can be, and in special events let players enjoy say Aimed shot at the head with your hand shaking with mouse and you have like 6 seconds to take aim and shoot, hit the groin and enjoy the fail you just made noob :D

But no company will actually take the risk to do it, sad but true.
Game developers are pussies with no guts at all. Companies that take risk and make games that no body else does are what really matters, everything else is dumb.

AceHigh:
Actually it is the game publishers that are pussies, not game developers. Although in some cases like Bethesda they are both publishers and developers.

If you ever do get DOSBox working, there's a wealth of old rpgs you could try out. Their pretty dated but many of them will be what you want and then some.
