I bet that it's Cleverbot.

Thanks for the confidence booster!

And, well, you were incorrect.  My best friend is the BakaBT Community!

I gotta agree with you on that.  Even if you didn't know it was a program, you can figure it out almost immediately.  It's like talking to a schizophrenic with severe brain damage and ADHD.  Interesting little time waster.

And, that's different from Cleverbot ... how?  ???

Looking at some of the answers & responses I get from it, I do wonder how many people could tell the difference clearly & immediately.  Cleverbot is currently rated at ~41%-42% "clever" ... Each session I've had I rated it a 3.  But, I have some experience with Turing Tests.  I played with several of them over the years, especially circa 1997 - 2002.  So, my standards are (probably) a bit higher than the general 'Netizen.  With a score like that, there's got to be quite a number of people rating it a 5 or 6, at least.  Kind of scary-low standards for "cleverness."

Years ago I lived in a town where I (and many other night owls) would congregate at a local, 24-hour coffee/donut shop during all hours of the night.  Had some "interesting" conversations with some of the local freaks-of-the-night there.  One guy in particular could have been Cleverbot.  I'll never forget him; I'm certain he was a true schizophrenic, possibly with lobotomy-like surgery of some sort, bombed on caffeine & sugar.

It really doesn't want to be told it's called Ricardo...
